Got my license :)

Yup, all is done. I didn't stall or anything, and the guy said he was impressed by that. But then at the very end, at the parking lot of the DMV after I had pulled into a spot I forgot to press the clutch in as I braked and stalled! He laughed so hard, called it the pinnacle, and let me off the hook for it.

Congrats!

Over here, you don't fail the test if you stall once or twice. My parents, both regular drivers since the mid 70s, stall once in a while.

Heh, no ducks were harmed in the process of achieving this license. It was however, pouring like a monsoon. I stayed very conservative throughout.

The officer probably warned everybody else already. We got into a shouting argument in the parking lot

Way to go phantomcow2.

It is probably not a good idea to shout at the officer until after your license is in hand!!

Yeah, the DMV testers tend to have a decent sense of humor about things like that.....stickhaps happen.

Either way, go celebrate already

Let's see, the distance between here and NH is about 2400 miles I figure - should be enough...

Just kidding, congrats!

i remember just being really friendly with my officer. i think it helped. although i was still nervious and lurched out of the parking spot way to fast. then i screwed up a little doing a u-turn and i forgot to check my mirror once or twice.

anyway, 13 years and two wrecks later i'm still alive!

Actually, I'm closer (about 9 miles) than she is! But I've been in Dover a lot since he got his permit & have felt relatively safe...relatively

OK, now, aside from watching out for you if I ever venture to your neck of the woods, congrats, and be careful - it's usually "the other guy" who causes a crash.

Does this mean we won't get weekly threads about how to perform driving tasks any more?

btw - congratulations.

No, it doesn't.
By the way, I asked the guy if I am allowed to shift to neutral and coast to a stoplight, stop sign, or whatever. He said absolutely not, because that is "not how you operate a vehicle". Interesting

Ugh...please explain why. What difference does it make if the engine is enguaged with the tranny or not. Yes your braking distance is shorter but otherwise why not?

impressed? yikes. Where i live, i believe it is an automatic fail if you stall. And it should be.
