Ouch!

I loved my truck when I had it - but at 10 mpg I'm glad I'm not driving it now!

Methinks you have a slightly larger fleet that I. Besides, I like working on my bikes.

Inspections? We don't need no stinkin' inspections.
Seriously, there are not enough people in the area for the state to require us to have them.
Ya got lights, and is the windshield more or less in one piece, or at least not opaque?
Well, that's good enough for Walton county.

In PA the inspection is state mandated. You could live in East Jabip and you'd still need to have your vehicle inspected. Safety and emissions, to the tune of about $100 if no work is needed.

Interesting enough, inspections here are very strict. Emissions and everything.

My dad drives a Chevrolet 2500HD. He bought a 3.0 H6 Outback 3 years ago and tells me he has damn near paid for the Subaru with the money he has saved in gas.

Here in TX, for some reason only known to politicians, they mandated that all vehicles be smog checked [1], and charged $20 more for inspection... in two counties of all the 254. Otherwise, if the vehicle passes basic mechanical checks (turn signals, horn, brakes), its OK.

[1]: Smog check meaning hook up to the OBD II connector, look for any errors in the log.

Just be glad you don't have an older English car! This requires adopting a mechanic as a son! That's the only way you can afford to keep it running, especially if it's electric system is from Lucas!

Auch! I paid $60 for ball joint press from Harbor Freight and done it myself on my Jeep CJ7. Took about three hours per side, not bad.

I would like to rub it in that my 1995 Miata passed the FREE NJ state inspection with flying colors. Yes, our inspections are free in NJ.

not much actually, considering they're primarily driven by women and old men. Less than my Honda econobox.

The registration is $40. My insurance is $700 a year. Considering the car is long paid off, I haven't been ticketed in over 8 years and I have never had an at fault accident.....I do pretty well.

Oh, and I only need to get it inspected every three years...... I have spent $270 TOTAL in repairs on the 12 year old car. All that and 35 mpg. I also get to commute to work with the top down. Even traffic is fun.
