That's a lot of damn water. Imagine flying down the highway and seeing that 10-foot-across manhole cover falling in your direction from a giant random geyser.

Are you sure that's Minneapolis? 'Cause isn't that how Ra's al Ghul destroyed Gotham?

Definitely not Calgary. We didn't have any exploding storm sewers - overflowing, yes, taking out a couple of MAJOR routes, yes, but no geysers (alas).

It was quite a surprise to move to an "arid" climate and discover that June is monsoon season, by the way. We got more rain yesterday than Victoria has had in a month!

Actually, we did get a few flying manholes, only the smaller ones, and only a meter or so. Nothing like that movie. Having seen the scour and debris where Nose Creek twists back and forth just before it joins the Bow River, I would have liked to watch that. (Probably from the safety of the bridge above though!) bikes on the path there would probably have ended up WAY downstream.

First of all, that was completely awesome- the power of water is obviously something to contend with. Second, what can one say about those yutzes continuing to drive through it?

Not just falling in your direction...if you watch close, that pickup either that truck hit it, or got hit by it.

I can hardly imagine what setup they might possibly have that could allow such a surge of water to build up multiple times like that.
