You are here: Home Page › Toys › Bikes, Scooters & Skates › Road Bikes
Yeah, that cateogry is pretty ****ed up.
Sadly - i wonder if that is overpriced. Maybe because of the carbon fiber?

It seems a bit high for an unknown brand. You can buy a Pedal Force QS2 with full Ultegra of Centaur for just over $1800.

My full carbon 105 kit road bike was 1400.

That road frame geometry looks funky too.

I found it in sports when I just went to walmart.com to check for myself instead of following the link.

And good thing this is not in the road forum or the poor OP would be getting flamed right now for being a walmart shill! Nice find BTW, I find it interesting that WalMart does respond to market pressure and is willing to try marketing a high dollar bike.

On the other hand, this may be the only Woe*mart product not endorsed by Dale Earnhart Jr.

For that price, I hope its assembled and fitted better than their $50-$250 bikes.

There was some talk of WM opening some higher end stores that would have a Performance style bike section. Perhaps this is part of that effort? I would be very concerned about the assembly given other WM bike products. Carbon fiber is far more fragile than a high-ten NEXT.

Actually it clearly says online only on the sale page. They know not to try and let the stores touch those bikes.

If not, I'm sure they'd be interested in a trademark violation! I passed on the link....

I was in Walmart today. Not one of the bikes had properly adjusted brakes. Almost all of the pads hit the tire and not the rim. One had the cables routed upside down, they met the sidepulls from the bottom and not the top. All the assemblies could be at best described as poor, at worse negligent.

possibly because Wal-Mart is officially known as "the" low cost retailer... Would you sell a $10 dress shirt at Nordstrom?

Overpriced IMO....an $1800 bike should not have 105, nor a Ritchey seatpost unless it's WCS.

I was checking this one out over the weekend:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4994756

It was interesting to see in person what a Chinese mass retailer could put together to resemble a modern road bike. I must admit, it fell short of being an utter piece of crap. I mean, it was pretty crappy, and nothing anyone with any serious desire to ride road bikes would purchase, but fell short of complete incompetence. It had all the right parts in the right places, and even had some variant of Shimano componentry somewhere in the drivetrain. It was quite heavy, but not as heavy as toy department bikes have been in the past. And honestly, there was something striking about the black/yellow color scheme. The designer showed more talent for esthetics than Trek, even if at a crude, early stage of design talent.

"Everyday low price"

Most people who aren't bike enthusiasts would gag about a bike that cost two grand! That's not an "everyday low price" for most folks!!

Funny.
