So the OCD is kicking in.

I took that UMB out today for the first time and saw how dirty it is. Of couse I have to clean it, right? I am so used to waxing my bikes that I looked over and realized.......how do you clean or treat ti? I know you wipe it down with a damp cloth but the oils from my hands mark it up when it's dry. You can't wax what isn't painted, right?

And Jon's bike is dirty too. Long story why HIS is dirty.....*ahem* Put it this way, he took off his pants...

And it got me wondering - Is there anything you have to do different for painted Carbon?

This is all new to me, this non steel, non aluminum thing.

Can't help with Ti (might try searching the road or mechanics forum though). I think I've heard people using Simple Green to clean oils and such off Ti frames.

As far as painted carbon, damp rag and a mild soap should work fine. A liquid wax would help protect it as well and shouldn't do any harm to the frame.

Cuda I hear about simple green causing alu to discolor as well as steel? That won't hurt ti?

Whoot nekkid bicycle riding! Or ... wait ... perhaps it was with the ripped crotchy pants ...

I always like a clean bike, including chain. Clean chain is sweet. Muddy mtb riding however can prove to be a trophy bike!

... and the OCD kicks in and the windex comes out for a quick clean. I do wax the frames down twice a year, especially the mtb that takes the brunt of winter nasties.

Ahhh, the OCD's ...

Lemon Pledge works wonders for painted or clear-coated carbon, and smells lemony fresh.

As for the Moots, Titanium is so strong that it can only be cleaned in the fires of Mount Doom.

How did you get soda on the bike if the bike was in the back?

Remember I pulled an orange soda out and was drinking it when we both left? Well I guess I ripped open the 12 pack too much because all the cans spilled out into the trunk. So while I'm driving I hear this hissing noise. I'm like "WTF is that". I turn around and can't figure it out. I get on the bridge and as I'm paying my bridge toll "BOOM" *sound of soda spraying everywhere*. OH EFF, my bike, nooooooo. I was staying back muttering cuss words and I think the asian lady who took my toll money thought I was a crazy white boy. On the bridge, I once more hear some hissing. When I get home three cans of soda sprayed and/or leaked everywhere.

I swear I'm done being blond. I'm dying my hair black tomorrow.

I'm glad the curse hasn't been lifted.

Ooooh. Can I tell them? This was totally a Siu day, she is so OCD, and it's fun to poke fun at her about it, she get's so serious . Anything that happens after the ride doesn't count. So any soda mishaps officially do not count.

Skiahh, what is this I hear about what simple green does to metals? Slight corrosion?
And someone else said that some LBS will put the Lemon Pledge on the ti so fingerprints don't show as much? Any truth to this?

As long as you rinse it completely, I don't think there's any corrosion worries. At least I see no signs of it on my Litespeed. Or Specialized, for that matter.

I have no idea about Pledge for fingerprints. I'm not OCD; bikes get dirty. They get sweat drips, road splatter, finger prints, chain grease etc etc etc on them. I clean mine thoroughly every now and then and don't worry about it being pristine. To me, a pristine bike says that its just a trophy.

Now, don't get me wrong, that Moots is a trophy, but it's a trophy that should be used and should look like it's used well, not fresh from the showroom floor!
