Kudos to her!! Too bad the jerks she works with wanted to harass her about it instead of supporting her.

Yet they spend the first three minutes talking about how they're not covering Paris Hilton?

Good for her though, I guess.

Only because those two jerks kept teasing and harassing her about it. She'd have just moved on if they hadn't kept it up.

Brava to her. I can't believe that the brat Paris Hilton is the top story. That's pretty ridiculous. I'm also shocked by how her fellow reporters acted. They didn't act mature whatsoever.

Good for her. Paris Hilton is quite possibly one of the most inconsequential, unimportant people on the planet. There's really no reason anyone should care about her little drama when there are actual problems in the world.

Even if there weren't actual problems in the world, Paris Hilton wouldn't matter one iota.

My personal impression is this was all staged. What did they have to lose? Everyone already was aware of the story due to 24hour cable news. The other two newsmen were not really surprised when she pulled out the lighter but played along. Sorry, their performance did not "sell" to me.

All she had to do was go to the next story. Not spend 10 minutes making sure everyone knew she was going to the next story, which btw, is not going to the next story.

I might believe it was staged if it weren't for the other two guys coming off as total dicks.

Yeah, it was obviously staged. Not much on TV that isn't. So really I can't see a lot of difference between the attention getting actions of the anchor vs. those of Paris Hilton. OK, of course there is a difference, but still the anchor was playing to the camera to get attention.

We are sitting here discussing her, so I think the mission was accomplished. Same applies with Paris. The more attention she gets the more money she makes. That is pretty much the way it works in the media and on TV now. Not sure why or how this happened, but it did.
