Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

Oh yea, I heard about this on NPR a few weeks ago. I sometimes wish the US would adopt some of the UK's progressiveness.

Aren't some states non-smoking? Also, didn't the medicare lawsuit thing have any effect on smoking bans?

TO be honest, I am not even certain about smoking laws. It varies state by state.

Here in Florida there are tough anti smoking laws in place. No smoking in restaurants, work places, or public places. Bars can be smoked in IF there is no food service. Illegal to smoke in hotel and motel rooms designated smoke free. It is also against the law to toss a butt out the window of a car on to a roadway. [I wish that one would be totally enforced]

I'd rather not have the government telling us what we can and can't allow on private property. If it's a public building, then fine. If I own a bar, and I want people to be able to conduct a legal activity there (smoking) the government shouldn't be able to tell me that I must disallow a legal activity on my private property.
