Lance. I would remember that day more than I would the $200.

Give me the 200 dollars. We'll put it in the pool and look for donations to host a huge Foo party. Frankly, Lance is okay but I'd rather meet you folks to tell the truth. We are the ham and eggers that make the cycling world go round. Without us there are no bike companies and thus no Lance!

So here is a toast to all the ham and eggers of Foo!

Good night all you Foosters
And good night Moon

Pie would be fine. Raspberries are at the top of their season here.

I'll take the 200! I already met AND rode with Lance! (Not a bad guy, actually!)

Race to Replace, last year.

I would turn the money down if I could ride with the Babe Ruth of Cycling, Edouard Louis Joseph Merckx.

I picked spending the day with Lance - presuming that I'm not just shepherded around and kept at a distance for the whole day. What I'd take away in memories, training information and anecdotes would far exceed the $200.00.

note: two weeks ago, I spent about $200.00 in tickets and gas to go on a 3 hour whale watching excursion with my wife. I don't regret having done that, and the memories of the experience were well worth it. Having said this though, there definitely would be an amount of cash I'd rather have than spending the day with Lance (or Floyd, or Michael Jordan, or whomever), so I guess it isn't just a matter of principle or the experience for me, but also a measure of my regard for the person, and how dear the money would be for me. I have a great deal of difficulty thinking of a professional baseball player I'd pick over $200.00, but can think of plenty of cyclists and celebrities who'd win out over that amount of cash.

I would take the $200 dollars. That could go towards the Onitsuka Shoes I want.
I did once meet a guy in a bar (in Kyoto) who claimed to be Lance's best friend. He told me this after I bagged the cr4p out of Lance for about 10 mins. Of course I decided that he was a total tosser until two weeks later when he emailed me a few pics of him out mountain biking with Lance, and a pic of him with Lance's kids and Lance's ex wife.
I still think he was a tosser though.

Me? I think I'd also take the money, and do what I do best with it: spend it on the people I love. Only because in thinking about spending the day with Lance, I found myself qualifying it: no meetings, not 'following him around' --just hanging out. Heck, I don't think I'd want to ride with him. If I spent the day with Lance it would be with margaritas and a boat. And if I have to qualify the experience, maybe I'm better off not having it....
