The truth about the "X" factor.

Ok so we finally met up with X(I still don't remember his first name ). I got to the parking lot, Siu was parked, I ask Siu..... "where's X? " She says she doesn't know, but directly after I say that I see a white van with a man of hippy-likeness move from a parking spot in the back right beside us. There he is!!!! We went across the hill and got some pancakes, chatted about the evil Walmart, but we tried not to get Siu going so we ended that convo quick. So we got to ridin'

The whole reason we decided to ride here, instead of Golden Gate park was because we wanted to ride to a corner where a Cal club cyclist Corrine Crawford had been ran down by an elderly motorist and subsequently killed. The whole cal team and whomever wanted to join was meeting there on the corner for a little memorial. We decided to participate.

Check out the thread. X-post from Norcal

Sunscreening my already tan complexion. (don't ask me what good it did because I have this feeling that I will have blisters on my neck by morning. )

We made it to the corner of where Corrinne was hit. We all checked out the memorial and pondered it for a second. Her water bottle holder, vest, and the broken carbon fork, lay there.

We were way too early so we decided to ride up the street and sit around to pass a few minutes. As usual Siu is enjoying the photoshoot.

We headed back and waited as masses of cyclists congregated.

Lovely Siu, patiently waiting.

Anyways. This young lady of the cal cycling club, was at this corner Sunday. An elderly driver was coming down the street and thought he saw something in his peripheral vision, he panicked and swerved and hit Corrinne and her friend. She suffered injuries to the extent that Tuesday night all her organs were donated. I must say this entire thing was very moving, and almost had me in tears. A friend of hers came up and read a poem in latin, and stood there choking up trying to read it. We got to hear about the wonderful person she was, the fact she had touched many lives, and strived to be a great teacher. I couldn't help but think if I was in the place of having lost a friend in this manner. I first thought of Siu, and it got me really choked up for a sec. I wiped my eye. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I hope everyone never takes life for granted, and tries to live in a manner that would be pleasing to those who love you. I would also like to say, please cherish your friends, because you never know when one day an elderly man, or a person backing up, or any manner of tragedy may take someone's life.

We made it to a bathroom and took a rest for a second. Siu had to "stretch out" all the tension.

X joined her. My he's a flexible young lad..... *aHEM* ladies.

It's scary to think there's actually over 10 grand in metal and rubber laying right beside me. 10 Ggggrand!!

But at the end of the day... Money can't buy friends. That's right folks.

We decided to start changing my bike into a rainbow , so I begged Siu to help me with the tape. She started working on it, and it was perfect, then she yelled at me and told me I needed to learn, so I was handed the tape. I basically ruined it all. But still, it's pretty coolio.

The gathering for Corinne was very touching. There was quite a turnout (and under different circumstances, it would have been an impressive bike show) of friends, family, and people whose lives she had touched. If I had to guess, I'd say that about 80-100 people attended.

The viewer will also note my almost entirely pigmentless legs. My body doesn't bother with pigment, so it can focus on things like informing me of how painful that pose was.

Don't forget the plastic one over to the left!

Siu and I were pondering how long such a bike was going to last in Jon's hands when we heard the loud crack of impact coming from Jon doing wheelies in the parking lot nearby. Surely the frame had given way, or a spoke had violently removed itself from one of its bindings. As it turns out, the impact had just wrenched the bars out of place.

Jon, I'm sorry to say but you're quite pale. You'll need that sunscreen.

That was a very touching story. I would feel the same if I lost any of my friends. I cherish each and every one of them. I would be sad to see you, Siu, X, or anyone here hurt.

I was thinking more along the lines of Playbike. They'd just have to fire up Photoshop to get that guy out of the picture...

That was me stretching, but I'm not flexible so it looks like I'm a mutant hunchback.

But I dare not touch the moots. I wouldn't want Siu scrubbing my paw prints off for hours. That would be down right mean.

Pssh, 10 grand? I was up in Auburn, shuttling some DH trails with Randy Spangler, 6 of us total. Shuttling in a 2 seater Yota pickup. 2 guys in the cab, 6 bikes in the back + 4 guys. The bikes? Santa Cruz V10, Nomad, Ventan El Cuervo, Cannondale Phophet MX "The cut", Ellsworth Moment, Trek Fuel EX 9. Combined value probably about 23 grand, hangin out the tailgate.

None the less, looked like a fun ride. Still don't have a road bike, so you got a leg up on me there (no purposeful reference to the pic Siu posted)

We're talking about roadies here. Roadie dollars are worth 3x the amount of a mtb dollar. So ours are technically worth 30 grand in mtb dollars. Talk to the hand because the skinny roadie arms don't carrrrre.
