Tall Ship Parade

A couple of pictures from today's Newport Tall Ship Festival/Parade. It was a gorgeous weekend all around. Spent a couple of hours watching the ships go by and then a couple of hours riding along the water afterwards. When I got down by the beach, there were 4 of them lined up on the horizon... a scene from a hundred years ago with ships like these coming and going up Narragansett Bay on a regular basis.

Sorry for the blurry image on this one. I had the camera zoomed to the max using its digital zoom feature.

I wasn't paying enough attention to get the names of the ships. I think the first one might be the Providence replica.

I was also having fun chasing my daughter around as she chased seagulls.

Great picture.

How about being a crew member on one of those ships and have to raise and lower the sails?

So when is America going to win the Cup and bring the races back to Newport?

I thought we couldn't win the races because they changed the rules so americans could go work on the other ships and that's where they were all now
