July 4: T-minus one night to T-plus two nights....

Anyone exceptionally happy or annoyed to hear explosions going off intermittently all around before and after July 4th? Post your good and horror stories here....

An old post of gbcb's from the Chinese New Year just past made me think of posting this thread. Well, that and some premature bottle rockets over the past few nights right behind my house in the very dry and overgrown utility right-of-way....

Note: Please don't post regarding festivities on the 4th itself -- someone can create a separate post for that.

We've been under heavy drought restrictions, many municipalities are have canceled fireworks displays this year because of brush fire hazards.
Amazingly I've not heard the first one go off yet. And there is even a trailer park two miles away, usually the fourth sounds like The Fourth in that direction.

mmkay. Last night was eerily quiet in my neighborhood, in spite of the fact that there was a party last night at one of the houses rented by some students.

Wondering what tonight or Friday night may sound like. Could it be that some people are holdin' off 'til the weekend on the major fireworks?

I believe personal fireworks aren't allowed here, but I still heard plenty on 3rd and 4th nights. It was PISSING ME OFF because my dogs were terrified. Poor Ammo was shaking and anxious for hours. Nothing I could do to calm him down.

The dog is named Ammo, and is afraid of the sound of explosions? Sounds like the name doesn't really fit.

My dog who freaks out at the sound of thunder did not flinch at all with the fireworks going off. Animals can be funny sometimes.

Crap....I just remembered...I do have some tranq. Vet gave to me in case I needed it for drive out here, but never used any. I wish I'd have thought of it.

Wow. More itty-bitty fireworks going off in the neighborhood today (even before sundown -- does that strike anyone else as a bit of wasted money?) than went off on the day/night of July 4th....

Hm.... Waitin' to see what the college kids down the street will do Friday night (the second summer session just started 7/5, and there's usually a racous party about now anyway ).
