Anyone here have an LG Chocolate cell phone?

Just wondering if anyone here has the LG Chocolate phone and if so how do you like it? I am planning on buying a new, unlocked one off of ebay to use with Cingular. I have finally gotten to the point that I can no longer tolerate my Motorola razor.

*edit - sorry forgot it's AT&T this week and not cingular.

Yeah, Lowcel, I have one. Salsa loves it, I hate it... can't touch the darn thing without it doing something!! But, since you are mechanically & electronically inclined, you will probably love it!

The problem with chocolate cell phones is they melt and leave a chocolately mess on the side of your face.

I've heard problems with the battery life, but I'm pretty sure they fixed this issue.

So far sounds like it may be the way to go. It has got to be better than the razor! I might have to get on ebay this evening.

I don't know if they've fixed this at all, but I have a friend who has the chocolate and she always complains that when she has the phone up to her ear while talking, some part of her face inevitably always makes contact with the touchpad and sets something off. Tends to frustrate her, and might be something worth considering...

Do they have crazy ads for these in the States? In China, there are posters all over the place with the tagline "I chocolate you!", which in Chinese sounds vaguely like "Love chocolate!". It annoys me, but I guess the ad worked, since I was able to remember it

Edit: Sorry for being off-topic, but I'm curious

They did that for a while here last year, but it's pretty much died down since then.

I have one... it was between the chocolate and the Krazr. I picked the Chocolate because I could feel the buzzer in the holster when someone calls me. The Krazr is just like the Razr and you can barely feel it so you miss calls all the time.

Although the speaker phone is louder on the Motorola. The other negative is that you need the adapter for the ear phone jack and the plug end is smaller than regular earphones. So you can't use your iPod type earbuds in them.

Other than that the battery life has been as expected. I charge it every 3 days or so.

I did have a problem once with the battery life but that's because I was messing around with the features and didn't turn off the blue tooth feature. So it would continuously search for a blue tooth connection and kill the battery. Once I got that figured out I was good again.

I like it because I didn't want a flip phone and because I didn't want to wait 3 mos until the iPhone came out and then spend $600 on it.

Yeah, definately watch out for the "search for blue tooth" device thing - it will drain the battery quickly - as will leaving the music playing with the sound off.....

I have one of those blue tooth ear thingies you can have REALLY REALLY cheap - everytime I try to use it I end up hanging up on people or dialing people I don't want to, or leaving the music playing & draining the battery...

But, the phone itself seems pretty sturdy - I like that about LG phones.

Is anyone using this phone with the AT&T / Cingular network? If so are you having any problems?

I got verizon. My wife and I have chocolates. She is the only one that had issues. Within 2 days her green one when gonzo. The customer service people gave her some line about how the green ones were giving them problems and gave her a white one. I have a black one.

Things I like, you can turn the phone to standalone, so you can listen to the music without issues. The phone takes decent pix too... well for a phone.

Thanks. Now I just need to make sure that my area uses the 900/1800/1900 mhz and not the 850 mhz and I'll be all set.

Oh, looks like the chocolate takes a lot better pictures than my razr.

I know 900mhz/1.8ghz/1.9ghz are the gsm bands. If your provider is cingular, you will most likely be gsm.

That's why I'm confused. I called last night and talked to a lady that really didn't seem to have a clue. She just said they are gsm. Then I told her I understood that but needed to know if they used 850. She said she wasn't sure but thought she heard someone say somethough about 900 over 850. I have no idea what that means.

Check out HowardForums.com and look up your carrier under their Carrier section to find out. This is THE place for anything mobile phone related.

Well found out my area primarily uses the 850 range so the chocolate is out. I went ahead and went with the next best thing, an iPhone. I can't wait to get home so I can activate this thing.

Well, I suppose with all the money you're not spending on mountain bike races, an iphone makes sense!

I am going to try to make it out for white oak. That is if I am not too wore out from working about twenty days straight.
