Weird Outboard Motor..............

The other day I saw someting I had never seen before; an outboard with three propellers. Three. There was the main propeller and there were two smaller propellers mounted above the main one, with what looked like a hose running to each of the smaller propellers.

Since I know nothing about boating and outboards I just wanted to know if this was homemade or an elaborate prank.

Anyone ever seen this?

It is most likely a trolling motor. Mounts to the anti cavitation plate on the down leg of the outboard. What appeared to be hoses were most likely electrical cables to carry power to the two small electric motors.

Allows the boat operator to troll at low speeds when fishing and not run the big engine, but still be able to control the boat by turning the main engine with the steering wheel. These are also used on inboard/outboard applications.

Here is a link to one made by Minn Kota but there are others on the market.

You could use it when fishing for trolls, or any other type of fish I guess.

I am sober today and got a good nights sleep. Nothing that alcohol and insomnia won't set straight later today. Thanks for noticing and more importantly, thanks for asking and caring!
