Golfers where do you fit in..

Everytime I read a golf magazine there are so many tips that involve practice on a course and articles on how to tip you caddy and shoe polisher.. You would figure for anyone with a 9-5 and sufficient cash money, Its tough enough to find a driving range once and play a round for cheap.. Plus a caddy? How many have you have ever played with a caddy in a course.. I haven't and neither have too many golfers I know if. It makes you wonder who your average golfer really is.. Public course golfer or private country club golfer.. so answer up..

Never played with a caddy, don't know if I ever intend to either. There is only one "private" course here in Lincoln. The rest you can buy memberships, but they are still open to the public. Members get Tee time privelages over the public golfers. Believe it or not we actually have several really nice golf courses in the area so I tend to get around.

A buddy of mine got a caddy when he played Pebble.

But I've never had a caddie myself. Why pay for someone to tell me that I suck! I know that fact for free.

Although if I did play more than 10 times a year, and that's generous, maybe I would get better.

And honestly, if I had the $$ I'd spend it on lessons.

What kills me is that I have friends that buy Pro V1's and other high end golf balls and equipment and they still suck. One especially. He talks a lot of trash but rarely backs it up. And it's always his equipment and never him. We rarely play anymore because he'd take 10 hacks at a ball and come back to tell me he got par or bogey on that hole!

Then he'd make fun of my small 8 year old driver with a reg flex shaft because he has "tour" clubs with Xtra stiff shafts. Yet, I still out-drive him! Hhhmmm... yeah, I agree, it it is the equipment that's faulty. You keep buying clubs that don't fit your style, or lack of, and game play.

Sorry, I'll stop... I can write a book on this fool!

How bout

"I hate golf and find it inherently dull unless so drunk driving a governed golf cart into a tree is suddenly fun"...

That would be my category. Miniput would be fun but they don't believe in that out here, its all serious putting greens or pitch and putt. I would play again, always fun using those tiny putters as drivers...

With a serious answer, Whistler is mroe or less a golf resort in the summer. Lots of different public clubs with huge prices. I rarely see cadies however at nick north, they have a fleet of cadies making darn good coin. I think it depends on where or what you do, but to me, golf is a rich mans sport. There is nothing cheap about it, from the balls to the clubs to the bag/clothing/women to the cost of the green to how much it costs me per hour to stand there and not getting anything done (3hours of my day is worth to much to me). Its one of the priciest sports I know of, I would never have thought of it as the common mans game

Ironically, I have an IT conference in Arizona coming up with scheduled golf breaks. Time to put in some time at the range so I can brush up on my 45 degree slice...I love hitting the broad side of a barn haha

one of the my other brothers (not the math/computers one ) did that with a buddy - really pissed the golfers off when they started doing donuts on the greens and fairway

I used to play it religiously back in the 80's and early 90's. I never belonged to a club and played just about every public course in the Maryland and Southern PA. Like cycling if you want to get good, quality training, not quantity. Spend you money on buckets of balls and leave the woods in the bag. Hit 70% of that bucket with your 7-pitching wedge. Hitting the long ball dont mean squat if you cant put the ball close enought to 2-putt or birdie. Some of my best rounds of golf were with nothing more than a putter and a 5 iron.

I'm an awful golfer. But I do know many courses require caddies just to keep the game moving. Caddies help spot the ball, help with the club selection, and keep you focused. Of course the club doesn't pay but requires you to.

No poll option for me. When I see a golf course I can only see the wasted potential of a really great motorcross track.

I used to play a lot, then I started racing and playing games competitively.

I've been volunteering at the number of tournaments that take place around here, such as the Wegmans LPGA, and the Xerox Classic.
