High School Reunions?

What are your opinions? Did you go to any?

I skipped my 10 year. Now the 20 year is coming up next year and I'm starting to get blurbs. Some of the old high schoolers set up a website and are trying to get everybody signed up so they know who they got correct info for and such.

Did you go? Was it the same old cliques or was everybody adults and beyond that? Did you enjoy seeing the old people from high school or did it feel like a waste of time?

I'm a bit perplexed on whether I should be excited or not....I mean for the most part, these are just kids I didn't like as a teenager. I'm a big boy and can look beyond that now....but for those who have gone, does the general consensus look beyond those days?

I went to my 20th, it was actually a great time. I did blow off the 30th this year. Those people are now just too old!

You should go and d***le them with your sense of humor and wit.

And massive quads.

My mom's 30 year renunion was scheduled on Yom Kippur...they're not changing the date so it looks like they don't want any Jews there.

I wanted to go to my 10 year pretty badly, but it was just a few days after I dislocated my shoulders. I didn't have time to buy affordable plane tickets, and I couldn't drive from Charlotte to Atlanta doped up on Vicodin.

Well that sucks donkey balls!

KT, we didn't have a 10th. I was out of the country for the 20th. Looks like there won't be a 25th, unless no one's telling me. So, I'll get back to you if I decide to go to the 30th....

One of my high school teachers told me you should never go to any high school reunion past your tenth, because you'd wind up being depressed about how many of your classmates are now dead. I decided to be cautious and avoid all of them.

I've wondered the same, I skipped the 5 year reunion they had, but I wondered about going to the 10 year that should be coming up soon.

I wasn't one of those "i hated high school and glad its over" people, but I wasn't the opposite either. I spent 7 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 years with those people, plus whatever time I spent playing on sports teams. Even if I was nothing more than an acquaintance, I'd like to see how some of them turned out and where they're life brought them.

Our 20th is this weekend. And I decided a long time back that I probably would not go. I did not not go to the small get together they had for the 5th, and I did not get an invitation to the 10th.

I went to school a few towns away. I started hanging out almost exclusively with people from my own town by the time I was a junior. I merely went to school there, and that probably kept me out of trouble. Sure, I had friends there. But I never kept in contact with many of them after graduation. I ran into one of my classmates about seven years ago and I did not even know who the person was. She called me by name, and I managed to carry on a conversation pretty well with her, but to this day I still have no idea who it was. I guess some would think that is reason enough to go.

Not bothering with any of mine, 30'th was the last and I didn't leave anything in High School, and all my old HS friends have changed so much, that frankly, I don't like'em much any more.

You are all making me feel a bit better. I was kinda feeling like I was "supposed" to "want" to go and like the people I went to school with. In reality, I didn't like them much in school, I don't really care to "catch up" that much (though its kinda morbidly nice seeing popular kids profiles on the website who have done nothing with their lives). I feel better knowing I'm not mean and nasty for feeling this way....it seems to be the general consensus.

I went to my 20th. It's amazing how many people just don't take care of themselvs. I was amazed at how many looked like they could have been in there 50's instead of late 30's. Fat and bald and un-healthy looking.

i maybe only regularly hang out with 4 or 5 people in my graduating class, 10-15 on an on and off basis....... there is a reason why i didnt hang out with anyone else during that time. I dont understand why i would want to "reunite" with any of them 10 or 20 years later.. i had no interest in their friendship back then, and have no interest in the future.

I don`t know if my HS had a 10th and the 20th should have been last year but I didn`t get any info. At this point my greatest fear would be not recognizing anyone or seeing how old friends have let themselves go. Or maybe seeing and old girlfriend that had a rough life....etc or maybe seeing an old girlfriend that has a great life and wants to remind me what a shmuck I was back in HS.

At this point I just want to remember my classmates as they were and hope everyone is doing ok. I don`t really feel a need to remeniss.

I absolutely hated high school but my disdain was for most of the administration and teachers, not the other kids who were stuck in that hell hole with me. There were about 125 in my class and I was in the same district K-12 so I knew everybody and had grown up with most of them. The last two years of school though, I didn't hang out with people from school. My friends were older than me and high school drop-outs.

The reunions are held the same weekend as the 'Heritage Days' festival and I happened to be in town during the 10 year and ran into several classmates at the beer garden downtown. Two different people asked me when I "got out"? I'd had a bit of legal trouble before I left that town and when people didn't see me around anymore they naturaly assumed I had been sent to prison. For the record, I am not a felon and I've never spent one night in jail, but if you had known me then, you would understand why they assumed this. I got a kick out of it and decided it would be fun to go to the 20th to show everyone that I was indeed a free man, alive and well, & finally enjoying life.

I enjoyed the 20 year reunion; although I did not hang out with most of those people in HS, we had been through alot together and I do care about them. We are a part of eachother's lives whether we like it or not. It was interesting to me to see how people turned out. Most people were pretty cool, I did not worry about cliques and tried to talk to everybody. One or two people gave me the 'stink eye' and were carrying a 20 year grudge over something stupid - I thought that was pathetic. I was both amused and annoyed at some people who had not changed much at all - they just wanted to crank up Ozzy on the stereo and get drunk.

I'm glad I went to mine and I encourage people to go, but it is just getting together with a bunch of people you USED to know, nothing more & nothing less. If attending your reunion requires a lot of travel and expense it is probably not worth it.

Piffle Little Brother. You're not missing a farking think. The people in HS were dicks, now they're just older, more miserable dicks with less hair and bigger bellies. Let them wallow in their misery and enjoy your friends on BF.

I went to my 10 year reunion all I can say was LAMEO!!! It was like going back to highschool. The same groups still were very clickest. It really turned me off. Don't think I'll be making it to the 20year.

I was one of the few girls that wasn't married with 3 kids, and hey nothing wrong with that but I was kinda shocked.

My 10 year reunion was fine. I hated high school, but it was nice to see that most of the people from school had turned out okay. Gave me some faith in humanity.

I do not feel the need to go to any more reunions, though. One was quite enough.

My 10 year reunion was great.

If you keep yourself in good shape, haven't lived at your parents' house for the last 5 years, and get some world experience (traveling, cultural, cool hobbies like cycling), you're going to look like a golden god.

It's funny all the 'cool kids' who ended up never leaving the nest and got fat over that same 10 years.
