Look who I found last night!

His name is Jeremy. Or at least that's what he says.

We found him on our bike ride last night. My Niece almost stepped on him, but I saved him.

BTW: Made ya look!

Wolf spiders aren't poisonous to humans and they hunt many smaller spider species and insects. Around here, almost any spider is smaller than an adult Wolf spider. They're good to have around.

A real big wolf spider was on my backpack when I went backpacking in my early teens. I was stupid enough to leave it outside over night. The spider was about the size of my palm. I picked the backpack up, was about to put it on, then saw this big creepy mother****er come out of one of the pockets. I threw my backpack down and used the Lords name in vain. My dad went ahead and flicked the thing, and it's ass exploded. What was left scampered off. There was green **** all over my backpack. The spider looked a lot like that one.

Man, Spiders are cool critters! I have several pet spiders here and they're great!

My favorite is a common house spider, she'll run out on her web when I come in to feed them. She's always looking forward to the cricket I'm getting ready to drop in her web. I keep them in tanks, by the way.

Started reading and - ok - cool .. an then I hit the ass explosion thingee and the scampering body part was .... ICK. Big spiders can't take a fall Had a big mexican red leg tarantula (wolf's go bigger) that had a leg/body diameter larger than a man's hand, big freaking spider - and the weirdest thing to have "crawl" on you to.

But I certainly woudn't want to find a big thing like that!

Wolf spiders are cute- and helpful. They are our friends. Glad to meet you, Jeremy (personally, I think Cecil is better, but that's just me).

Nah- chiggers and sand fleas- they are the spawn of satan. You should know that, being in the Corps (I'm assuming you spent time at Lejeune, Geiger, and of course, PI)!

Why, yes! Have you never met one of these critters? (Read the section on bites...) Not the most pleasant of the earth's inhabitants, I can assure you.

Agreed. For that "down to the bone awful feeling" check out the Clock Spider. I don't think I have a phone book big enough to smash that thing.

i will say i won't F*** with a brown recluse tho

oh and for great fun... get a black widow into a plastic ziploc bag (and then seal it, duh) and drop it on your favorite female podmate's desk at work. instant riot ensues!

just be sure she isn't drinking hot coffee when you do that.

This brown widow lived in my shop for several months. I think one of my a-hole friends killed it.

I haven't seen one in person, but I think that's a Wood Spider. Sun/Camel Spiders also get quite a bit bigger than wolf spiders too.

There's not much sense in killing the Wood Spiders, but Camel Spiders do gimme the heebie jeebies. They're really fast and really strong, but still not poisonous.
