Sad day on one of OKCs trails.

First, this isn't anything for or against MUPs or anything else involved. I just feel sad about what occured and need to get it out.

OKC has been building a pretty nice network of MUPs circling the city and connecting the three city lakes. One stretch that has just been completed had a fatality accident last evening. The path is done but there is still some landscaping and such going on and will be for some time. A dump truck backed over a 14 year old walker/jogger killing him. From the news reports the kid was wearing headphones and didn't see or hear the truck and the truck driver didn't see the kid. I'm just sad for everyone affected by something like this that should be so easily avoided as to never, ever happen.

Everyone be careful out there.

That's sad....don't ya hate stories like these?

I don't mean to turn this into a debate, but this is a good reason why *I* don't wear (and think others shouldn't) wear headphones on the trail or really when "out and about" at all. I'm not pushing that on others, but that's my philosophy and this story is a good example of why I feel that way.

WOW! I hate to hear stories like this. Even on the MUP, you gotta keep your eyes and ears open.

I wear headphones when walking but the volume is low enough I could have a conversation with someone...just so I can hear if something is coming up behind me.
