Ooops! I offended Gary Coleman today

Just got back from taking our dog to the vet's. Gary Coleman was there with some girl and her 3 wiener dogs. I had a chat with him about living in Utah, and it was all good until I mentioned that my youngest daughter says "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" all the time, and has no idea where that saying came from. Then he was not so nice.

    Who knew?

They did an episode of VH1's The Surreal Life a few years back and he was on there. Vanilla Ice kept trying to get him to say "Whatchutalkin'Bout, Willis" and Coleman just about flew off the handle.

    Sheesh.

He says I shouldn't be teaching her to say it. She learned it from her friend, not from me.

I was a complete Diff'rent Strokes junkie when I was a kid. I'd have asked him if he keeps in contact with that Dudley kid, Kareem Abdul Jabaar, Conrad Bain, Charlotte Rae, and Todd Bridges. Then I would have asked him if they really hypnotized him in that one episode where they hypnotized him. Then I would have asked if he ever takes flowers to the graves of Adelaide the maid and Dana "Kimberly" Plato.

You should have offered him $50 to say it. I bet he'd have changed his mind.

He's just bitter because his parents spent every dime he made on that show and the fact that nobody will hire him for a serious role now. If he were to embrace it, and make fun of it himself he might have a chance. He actually moved to Utah to get away from the LA scene.

Personally I can't think of anything good that came out of Differ'nt Strokes.

What about the one time Arnold dropped the waterballoon on the maintanence guy - who was like, 20 stories below? That's was pretty good.

I used to watch that show when I was little and I idolised Arnold Drummond. I used to thinks that's how ppl lived here, in high rise luxury sweets with servents and limos.. awhhh, how right I was.

I imagine if any of us had to hear the same joke repeated over and over for 30 years, we'd get a little on edge whenever it came up, too.

Thanks, Brian. Somehow, that made my day.

I really loved his work in that local bail bonds commercial.

Wasn't he on the Celeb-reality show on VH1? Oh no wait, that was Vernon Troy... the other white meat.
