I'm opening up a little here so be gentle...
Last year I went to a local county fair and listened to a young lady sing some Americana songs. One of them was a song she wrote about not being there to say goodbye to the members of the armed forces.
Her song was so heartfelt that it brought tears to my eyes, it affected me enough for me to write a song in reply.
Today I went to this years county fair and she was back singing again, I waited until she was done and went up to her and told her how much her song meant to me and that I wrote a song in reply. Then I got brave and asked her if I could sing it for her and she agreed.
As I was singing it she closed her eyes and listened, then her tears started flowing and I had to stop looking at her so I could finish the song. When I was done she gave me a big shuddering hug and held on.
Apparantly it made an impression on her, and minutes later she told me she was going to make a cd and that she may want me to sing my song on her cd. What a surprise!
Well this is the short version of what happened but I am still emotionally drained and on a high. I had been waiting almost a year after I wrote it to be able to sing it for her. Her husband was there also and he thanked me a few times because I showed honor to his wife and he was pleased for her.
All in all a very good day.
By the way, don't let this affect your perception of me, I'm still the same old Steven.
By the way, I had to borrow her guitar to do this.
