Reasons Not To Move To Canada...

...are becoming few.

1.00 USD = 1.05340 CAD

Man... remember the days when 1.00 USD = 1.25~ CAD?

Canada was like America's duty-free shop!

4 years ago it was 60 cents on the dollar.

Thank God for those of you who voted for Bush!

When I first moved down here in 2001 it was like 62 cents on the USD Dollar.

Now they are getting pwned.

It is 100+ here in Dallas today. Do an hour or so work outside and you gotta find shade or DIE. Canada sounds dang nice right now.

heres my problem with canada- centerfire rifles with detachable magazines are limited to 5 round magazines. Also they don't allow much of any forms of self defense equipment. Other than that it would be a great place to live.

The irony is, you don't need it here.......

I hate the dollar being equal, its going to end up hurting us as well. West coasts primary provincial income comes from tourism (dollar for dollar does not bring you folks up to visit) and in the east (TO area) our incomes are primarily based on small part production of your american made cars.

Good times ahead for us

Uh what. It used to be 1 USD = 1.6 CAD. Like 2 years ago. And canadian retailers are STILL acting like the exchange rate is 1.6.

There are a number of factories that are closing in Southern Ontario because the margins aren't there anymore for American contractors to move their production to Canada.

Which hopefully will make things better for you. Open up some newer factories, help make your dollar stronger so the proper balance can fall into place

Or...we need politicians that think outside the box and make canada more self sustaining instead of reliant on the states. Hecks even our soft wood industry is being killed by the exchange.

Now, it sure makes me buying bikes and computer parts cheaper

I agree...but in the same breath 3 large pieces of our economy rely almost exclusively on america buying power. Thats a big chunk of change. Of course through it all Alberta will flourish with its oil ...

I can see this going to P&R quickly.

A friend of mine finished her physics degree in Calgary. She came back and had nothing but negative things to say about that place. First thing she did when she got back here? Bought a pistol.

Bannana Tugger, I have a Mosin Nagant, and may get another.

Maelstrom, I know it. Canada is mostly very safe. I've seen some punks in Windsor, but not a lot. My thing is it's my hobby having rifles politicians seek to ban. If you just want a weapon, Canada legal pump 12 gauges can't be beat.

Lack of media control, and hence lack of wide spread media induced idiocy sure does make canada an attractive place.

Socialized medicine, taxes, and pretty rough winter weather. Otherwise, it's quite beautiful and peaceful from what little I've seen.

I wouldn't call it a comeback, it just shows how the value of the US dollar has gone down like rocks in a river. I doubt the canadian dollar has deflated in the mean time.

"Times are a changin".
During the Stanley presentation before the last strike,Bettman credited Ohio with the largest group of pro players that year in the playoffs.
Your welcome to cross Lake Erie and see a game with me.

More like 9 years ago. 3 years ago it was 1.33 and has been dropping steadily.
