What movie is this

There was a movie I saw ages ago as a kid and am trying to recall the name. What I remember was
it was set in australia where these kids kidnap some bad guys. I think the bad guys were dressed up as santa. Anyway the kids captured these guys and then these guys suddenly "disappear". I think they end up being locked up in the kids science classroom or something. Does this ring a bell with anyone? The only other thing I remember is that it's an american movie and I think has a PG rating.

I think it was a movie from the late 70's or early 80's.

I think the kids actually end up killing the kidnappers too.

I just typed in movie, Australia, Santa, and kidnapping. You might be surprised at the number of possibilities Google offered me.
