My first celeb sighting...

Not really, but the most recent.
A few of us were out riding yesterday. Must confess, Harleys, Beemers and Hondas. I'm guilty of not pedaling this weekend. So, we rode up from San Diego to ride Topanga Canyon near Malibu. After losing some serious rubber off the tires up in the canyons, we stopped at a little grocery store in Malibu. Dr. Cox from Scrubs came walking by! You may also remember him from Road Hogs. He was the motorcycle cop who seemed to be a little "happy"
He seemed to be rather happy no one was running up and talking to him. He noticed us noticing him and gave us a little nod and proceeded to head out with ice and diet coke. So, when I become world famous, my level of celebrity will allow me to walk around and not get mobbed like most over hyped celebrities. I'm sure it's much better being able to do simple things like pick up stuff at the store.
That is all, carry on.

P.S. to all the cyclists out in that heat heading around those canyons. Good on you. My GPS told me I would probably die riding those roads. My northern blood doesn't handle the heat to well. Plus, those hills, holy moly!

Interestingly enough I have seen many a personality, who is "famous", over the years. I never understood the need of some to engage them in conversation. I mean heck, you don't know them and they certainly don't know you. Given the number of kooks in the world it must be scary at times.

Live and let live I say. Give a glance that says "I recognize you as a celebrity" and leave it at that. Like a rare beast sighting in the wild you should not harass the celebrity in its natural habitat.

Whenever I've seen a celeb
And I've seen/played ball with a lot of em living in samo
Nobody is bothering them

Completely free of photog hounds and autograph seekers
I think to be hounded you have to desire the attention

When I see a celeb I run up and touch them.

I'm still waiting for my first on.

Who are some other celebrities or famous people you guys have sighted up close?

here are some of mine (I've eliminated any cycling stuff from Interbike)

Richard Nixon: met him at Yankee stadium (he was in the box next to ours)
Steve Allen: Met him in NYC where he was our next door neighbor during one of his small tours

Susan Sarandon: she has a house somewhere in westchester county and frequents the library close to where my parents have a vacation home. In person she looked really dumpy. So much so that I was shocked. Maybe she is just trying to not be so obvious?

Paul Simon: used to take his kids to play in central park when I was a kid.

i was leaving a concert at roseland ballroom in nyc, i noticed Ashton Kutcher on the sidewalk across from us...he was surrounded by 4 or 5 girls and was scurrying into his limo.

Also met Jared Leto at a 30 seconds to mars concert.

oh and when i was young like 10 or so i met Regis on the boardwalk in atlantic city, and also Hulk Hogan at nassau coliseum.

I usually dont get star struck...but if its someone I really dig, I'll say hello and let them know i a fan and appreciate their work.

Russel Crowe's best mate was dating my sister once... But he's not famous.

I've sat with an Australian Soapie starlet at a seminar but outside of Australia nobody will know her.

I once told Dolph Lundgren to 'f**k off'. Okay, no I didn't.

A couple years ago I walked by John Kerry. Meh. Yesterday there was a woman at the Farmer's Market passing out tickets to see Bill and Hillary (or is it Hillary and Bill now?). No thanks.

I met Jane Fonda in Atlanta as one of my co-horts was doing some plaster work in an old house being restored.

I also met Chynna Phillips <hot>. Actually, I met many musicians when I worked at a music venue in Atlanta.

Cycling? I traded pulls on the Santa Ana River Trail with a large Black man. When I had to turn off I introduced myself. He replied, "Nelson Vails", a cycling star some of the folk in the over 50 forum might remember.

Hollywood? I could have picked up Ebert of "Siskel and Ebert", a movie review show. But I did not like the way he slammed one of my favorite movies so I left him in the dark and rain curbside at LAX.

I've met Kimi Raikonnen (sp?)

I had lunch at a country club last year and Clyde Drexel was at the table next to me. I've seen quite a few celebs. My dad used to own a couple nice restaurants when I was little and they came in often. Before I was born, the entire cast of Gilligan's Island came in to one of them.

Did you punch her in the face? I think I would have on merit alone for her anti-military comments.

I saw Megan Morrone (one of the staff on TechTV's The Screen Savers back in the day) at Macworld Expo one year. I didn't approach her.

I see Richard Simmons at least once a year, and we email back and forth regularly. Good guy. He really is as kind and enthusiastic as he seems on TV. He really does care about people. My wife and I are healthier with his help.
