College food does not suck

I don't remember who it was, but when i was a few years younger someone told me that when you go to college the food sucks. My roommates from last year likely ordered in some Jimmy Johns tonight. The only place i failed myself was forgetting to buy some bread.

Working in a restaurant for 6 years, and watching my dad cook as a kid...were two of my best decisions in life.

The only thing that could have made my dinner better tonight would be my lovely girl

When I was in college, we had to eat in a residence-hall dining room. There was no "ordering in" except for pizza, which was too expensive for anyone to do night after night. We could alternatively go to the "Rathskellar," a short-order joint in the basement of the residence hall cafeteria, after 5pm. We could actually order beer there, too, back in the day. Food wasn't so bad then, if you knew what to get and what to avoid, but we sure didn't have the likes of fast-food that you guys have now. Thank goodness.

We've got a meal plan too, i could still get it even though i'm not in the dorms anymore. Problem is, $6 a meal comes out to over $100 a week. Screw that!

There isn't a bar in this area that does not have Lager on tap. Oh, and just ordering a Lager is not ambiguous in any way

Pottsville, Penn? I don't know about moving there. But I'm up for a visit with some riding and fresh beer.

You don't know the pain of Sodexo. I lost more than 15 lbs my first semester.

I'm actually closer to Harrisburg/Hershey, but it's still the local favorite. If you time your visit to PA in mid-Aug, you could meet quite a few BF'ers. Here is a link to this year's thread on the topic. Loads of fun!

I hate Yuengling and Rolling Rock, but I will agree that the Rathskeller is one of the few places that you can find good, inexpensive food in that godforsaken village of the damned.

The Rathskellar in State College is not a chain. The term Rathskellar is, however, a general term referring to a basement bar common in PA because of the liquor licensing.

There was a bar/food zone at TCNJ called the Rathskellar when I used to go there.

Never knew it was a term for a thing, other than the obvious.
