Bad smell

Sweet-looking panniers, too bad about the smell.

What do you think the smell is? Skunk? Leftover tuna sandwiches?

Seller needs to quit riding with the panniers on after carb-loading on Skyline 5-way chili.

Ten dollars to ship?!?!? Sweet jeebus, you could fold them up, put them in a Bulk Rate Priority Mailer and ship them cross country for ~ $4.00

There's an added cost for the hazmat warning sticker.

LOL

I guess if I were interested - I'd have them describe bad smell. I mean sometimes things can have a heavy plastic smell or carry an odor like blankets, etc you get from Mexico or India. Smells like that. And those will most likely stay - but can be dealt with.

And then there's the other more organic smells. And if they couldn't get those kinda smells out then I wouldn't try it. Ick.

Unfortunately, on ebay the shipping is where the profit is made.

I can buy a jersey from the US which ships ALL THE WAY to Canada for only $18.

The actual shipping cost will be under $4US.

Needless to say, I won't buy from them.

Won't a soaking in bleach and ammonia cure the smell?

That's why I'm very selective where I spend my eBay dollars. I can see making a bit of hedge on shipping, there's tape & bubble and all that stuff to pay for. But I refuse to let someone make their profit on my shipping.

I asked them about it. They said it's the smell of the waterproofing treatment breaking down. I think I'm going to pass.
