Should Loyd Car get fired?

With Michigan starting out 0-2, whose to blame?

My answer, NO, but a definite yes if he doesn't win every game the rest of the season.

Every Michigan fan is now starting the mantra..."Beat Ohio State. Beat Ohio State." If Carr beats Ohio State, which is highly unlikely, he may salvage his job. But that is a big may.

Annual pilgrimage to Ann Arbor is in 2 weeks. Our ticket source couldn't get any through the official channels. I don't think we'll have a problem finding them on the street.

Or we could play another round of golf.....

Well, let's see ... Big Ten ... really prestigious tough conference ... and 2 out of the 3 teams Michigan has lost to??? Pac-10 ... yeah, Pac-10 ... the same conference that everyone said is the weakest.

Pac-10: USC, UCLA, Washinton, California, Oregon...not a weak conference. You must be listening to those SEC fans. Be careful not to mention Auburn to them though. They think they have the toughest conference in the country.

PAC-10 is definitely a good conference. So is the Big 12, Oklahoma, Texas, TAMU, Texas Tech, Nebraska

He needs to go. They need someone that can coach against faster teams. He only coaches for the Big 10, not for championships.

Maybe the Blue and Maize should replace him with Larry Craig. At least they wouldn't have to change the initials on the switchboard or buy new monogrammed towels.

Seriously, the man has had considerable success at U of M, and he is classy and respectable - certainly by the standards of Div I-A head coaches who routinely make asses of themselves (paging Mack Brown, paging Pete Carroll, and yes, paging the ghost of Bo Schembechler, to name a very paltry few). Every program has down times, even the really good ones. You shouldn't jettison a good coach and a good person just because two games go badly, even embarrassingly badly.

Seems to me that Penn State was thought to be circling the bowl a couple years ago, and they stuck with their head coach. Some guy named Paterno. Seems to be working out okay this year so far. In a different sport (basketball), it took John Wooden something like 17 years to win a national title, during which period he lost 8 or 9 straight games to Pete Newell's Cal teams. UCLA stuck with him, and that seems to have worked out fairly well, too. There is such a thing as being too fast on the draw and putting too high a premium on just winning.

However, I agree that Michigan needs to beat Notre Dame. Not to save Carr's job, but because I would love to see the damned Domers get an oh-fer for the rest of the season. I even cheer for USC to beat them - and I'm a UCLA alum and fan, which should tell you how much I like to see ND get squished like a bug.
