When you get a bad professor in college....

So it seems like I got a bad professor and its really getting me frustrated. I am in my first year of college and my goal was to do well and this one class is throwing off my whole mentality. Now all I care about is passing the class no matter what grade it is. What do you guys think about this?

I'd drop the class before the drop date, get your money back, possibly try to get into a class with a better professor if it isn't too late in the semester.

I'd rather take a class with a good professor and learn something useful then burn time and money with a professor I hate and learn nothing from.

Is the course such where the quality of the professor is actually an issue? What's "bad" about the professor? What subject is this?

What's making him/her a bad Professor? Have you talked directly to your Prof after class to discuss the issues. I agree that it's best to get transferred to a different class early in the semester ... if they're that bad, however some of the more difficult Prof's sometimes turn out to be the best ... especially if you are able to develop an academic relationship with them.

I think I will have the option to change to another professor. I am doing fine in all of my other classes except for this one.

I think you should stick through it, and I suspect a few people are going to agree with me (JSChen, where are you???). There's always going to be that annoying professor at some point or another, can't always avoid it.

I, like some of the others here, am curious as to what makes him a bad professor? While I've had professors that I didn't like, I can't say I've ever had one that was bad. For instance, I have a professor for a Rhetoric course this semester that annoys the hell out of me but, despite that, I can tell he has a lot to offer.

go to www.myprofessorsucks.com and read what others have said. Typically if its a first year class then it's not a big deal. The tests and material are easier/generalized since there are hundreds of kids taking the same class; unless it's an english writing course.

Also, classes just started, how do you know you're doing well in your other classes? Get a 90%+ on your first exam then tell me you're doing alright. You can be doing fine on the assignments and in class, but then a prof will send a curve ball at you with a nasty exam which destroys your grade. You're in for some rough stuff in college.
