    MTV Music Awards: Justin Timberlake

I'm willing to bet most of you didn't watch this, and i wouldn't have either if it weren't for the people i was hanging out with last night.

I've never liked his music, but i can appreciate his talent. But what i can appreciate more is that every time he was on the camera and not singing he was bashing MTV for not playing music video's.

When the girls of "The Hills" gave him an award, he said "MTV play more video's, no one wants to watch reality TV".

    Oh snap!

Judging by the amount of friends I have who watch junk like "The Hills", I'd have to disagree with Timberlake.

Nothing like playing a trivia game with them and watching them nail every celebrity question, and then fail on knowing who Tony Blair is.

MTV is a mess. I recorded and tried to watch part of the awards but I think I am getting too old or they are getting to wierd. I'm all for ADD, but crap i get so sick of their 45 different shots per second on the camera. Also it looked like no awards show i have ever seen. They had people having "parties" in different rooms. What wassup with that?

I rarely watch MTV. I still record The Real World because i have been watching the show since it started. Also it never gets old watching hot half nekkid 19 year olds frollic about. Other than that MTV doesn't exist to me.

Fortunately their are several hundred other channels, with a lot of them in HD. So that makes MTV low on the priority list.

10 years ago MTV started a video only channel called MTV2.

They play lots of videos..... no.... wait..... they show a lot of reality crap.

The video format for music singles is something kids just aren't going to sit down and absorb like they did back in the early to mid 1980s. Things like Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer," any Michael Jackson video from Thriller, and even Herbie Hancock's awesome "Rockit" video were things that absolutely were essential to the success of the songs back in the day.

Somewhere in the early 1990s it just kind of ran its cycle and the video format didn't mean as much.

Now, anyone wants to see a video, they can go to Youtube or the artist's site.

Still, it's funny that MTV gives out awards for videos that it no longer plays.

I suppose we should mention Britney. She did another good job of adding nails into the coffin of her former career. Holy crap. What ever happened to staying power among celebrities? I think today's celebs are all a bunch of wussies.

They all drink a few beers, snort a few lines, freak out, go to rehab and then tank. Does anyone remember Ozzie Osbourne or AC/DC? These guys partied more in one weekend then these modern "partiers" have in their life and they can still put on a kick ass show!
