    Damn You Ups!

I got my xcheck this evening. Noticed the qr for the rear wheel was poking through the box, didn't think much of it. Went to assemble and the rear wheel is totally out of true. Bummer for me. Pretty bike though. Will make a damn fine all weather/terrain bike.

edit for clarity: I can jump plenty high. I am referring to UPS.

Ah yes. UPS is, how you say... not good. I worked there for a short time a few years ago. It's as bad as you'd think.

Sorry about your wheel. Hopefully that's the extent of the damage. Enjoy your Surly!

Yea, the rest of the bike is mint. Once I noticed the wheel I obsessively checked everything that could have been messed up.

Still have the ss fuji to ride around until the weather gets crappy.... and to bring this wheel to the shop tomorrow. Also my lemond frame.... I'm going to look like a jackass in the morning riding to the bike shop with a frame on my shoulder and wheel in my hand.

I've been at my LBS when a package like that showed up. The guy who owned the shop told the UPS guy to stop laughing, and to get him the name of his supervisor.

Needless to say, it was rejected.

Yea... Wheel is fubar. I'm going to go down that road now. Replacing the wheel will cost 100 if I just buy a new rim and rebuild it. I think the axle is probably bent too. This is all messing with my scene very much.

UPS, when it absolutely positively has to be destroyed overnight.

That came straight from the lips of my UPS daily delivery driver.

Hmm... calling them went slightly better than I thought. They're going to pick the wheel up for free and "assess the damage" which I claimed at $200 for a replacement. Hopefully they acknowledge their responsibility.

Hahahaha.. yes. I too hate UPS. My wife gets annoyed at me since everytime I drive by or see a UPS truck I have to utter obscenities at it. They have screwed up my order 1 too many times.

Last week I was rolling home on a back wheel with a broken spoke, when I noticed a box in the roadside drainage ditch. Since I wasn't really on a "ride" anymore, I went back to check it out. Short version- It was about the size of a briefcase, the tape was intact, the box was full, the address was around 5 miles away and the shipper was UPS. I delivered it for them, the addressee said they'd been battling UPS over it for two weeks (its been dry), and was happy to have the problem resolved without having to contact them anymore.

Just piling on, I hope your wheel problem is resolved quickly.
