I made the Paper!!!!
As the new SuperHero called ...... Le Blur! (I'm the blur behind runner
Did the Rochester Marathon (race official following Lead Female Full Marathon) Sunday Morning. Here's me crossing the finish line behind my charge, lead female full marathon. Lead changed 3 times - this little girl with no hips shocked me and really pushed it on because as I was following the leader - I looked back - and could see for a loooong ways there wasn't anyone. Then I looked back and there she was pouring it on. Her father was one of the ride marshalls - and who kept with her for the last several miles coaching her on. She ran it in 3:05, did one last weekend 3 hr flat. (Lead man did it in 2:30). I am LE BLUR behind her in yellow.
Oh yeah, and my camera died an unnatural cause (these are all newspaper photos). While on route I grabbed a couple of their handouts - gu packets and stuffed them in my only side pocket with the rest of my stuff. I took pictures the whole way (mostly of runner butts, hehe) and got my runner going to the finish line with her father beside her - and stuffed camera back in. Got home and discovered stupid Gu packet erupted - and the only essential part of the camera (where it docks/memory card) was sitting in the pile of Gu. Stupid stuff. It infiltrated camera - and it died. Salvaged my memory card though. grr.
Couple other pics.
I look forward to this event all year. But boy it was cold at 6:30 am when I left the house -- overcast - barely 40 degrees - I still had shorts on - and a jacket over a tank top and I was fine -- but it was my FINGERS --- argh I coulda used full finger gloves. They actually started to hurt - so I rode the first hour (till sun came out) alternating sticking my hands up my shorts.
Interesting attire fore some of the runners while warming up and waiting for race - Le Bag!
Starting Line, >2000 entrants including a couple of wheelchair racers --- one guy had some sweet ZIPP wheels on.
