Movies you'd like to see remade.

What are some movies you would like to see remade with modern special effects and/or different actors/directors?

Just a thought that came to mind when bikingshearer made a joke about "Deliverance" in the "why is this guy trying to sell me meat?" thread.

Memphis Belle. Great movie but some of the scenes are very cheesy looking.

He was trying to, and then legal battles were holding it up, I think.

Then....he got screwed over royalties for LOTR, and I don't think he's going to do it now. I actually heard they may get somebody else to do it.

I can't think of any. Any of the old movies I appreciate, I like because they are so bad.

No.....I'd like to see it as a REAL movie, not a KIDS movie. No cartoon or CGI.

I know I was saying I wouldn't mind CGI, but I was agreeing with you on the real movie thing. I'm a much bigger fan of real people in movies rather than cartoons.

The old movies were done the hard way. Never again will there be a movie like Waterloo with Guiness record setting numbers of actors, each of whom have on a uniform. It's all digitized. I like the old movies because they were made with little or no special effects. Films like The Wild Bunch, Aliens, Animal House, the spaghetti westerns, Dillinger, 1941, Young Guns, SGT York, Caddy Shack, they had no computerized garbage. Sure once in a while modern movies will be made that way, but few if any remakes are made in a way I can enjoy. If a scene looks fake as hell because it is, I'm not going to enjoy watching it.

Although I don't really like Star Wars, that series is a good example. The "special edition" looks silly.

How about "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly"....but I don't know if I could stand to see anybody other than Clint in that role.

Overall I agree with you quite a bit. I am definitely for a great story and acting and to hell with the computerized special effects.

However, many old movies were just too cheesy and over the top for me. I'd like to see them redone in a less cheesy way. Get a good director with a good vision.

Streetfighter.

It sucked so bad the first time, by comparison Chuck Norris deserves an oscar for his starring role in Texas Rangers.

If it was a great movie the first time, I don't think it should EVER be remade. If it was a ****ty movie the first time, I would have no desire to see it as a remake.

Exactly.

Something I would like to see however is different perspective on my favorite old movies, that is, cover part of a story that was never told before. Not a sequel, but a look back at a different part of the story with an all new cast and crew. I've long thought it would be cool if a good director went and made a film about The Wild Bunch back in their younger days, but such things inevitably never live up to the originals. Like Dumb and Dumberer.

I somewhat agree with great movies, but completely disagree with ****ty movies. Bad movies (some of them) have potential to be good. If the story is good, it can be a great movie if it has good actors and a good director.
