Murphys is only good if you get it in Cork, everywhere else it tastes like a pint of Guinness with a teaspoon of sugar in it.

I'll have to take your word for it. Unfortunately I was stuck here working when my fiancee went to Ireland on a business trip back in the spring.

I heard they only serve Newcastle in bottles over 'there' cause there was some kinda of concern of water quality at one point, like lead or arsenic, and the people there don't trust the draft.

if over 'there' means the UK, then you are right. i can't recall ever seeing Newkie Brown on tap.

no clue as to what lead or arsenic has to do with it.

there was also an Irish Cream Ale in a green can like guinness comes in, i forget the name, but wow was it good! i better stop at beers of the world soon

Coupla Guiness empties in my recycle bin this morn as well!

Had a skunky tasting Sierra Nevada Pale with my excellent schmoked pork plate for supper too.

Continuing my crusade to enlighten the gullible about poorly made beer being sold at premium prices:
College kids are either drinking the cheapest thing they can get their hands on or are trying to be cool by drinking those foul tasting IPAs. Red drinks REAL beer, not that pretendabeer that is all hops and little malt.

What about good, hoppy, heavy ales? Lotsa hops, lotsa malt? I make a couple of brews that have high IBUs, but they're also heavy enough to drink with a fork.

For all intensive purposes Newkie Brown is the same thing.

IPAs are delicious, as are many beers, including Newcastle. Some people are just picky I guess (not to mention snobbish).

To me having a beer is about enjoying myself, not telling other people what to like in a haughty and know- it-allish manner.

Not a guinness or ipa fan.

I agree with Oleanshoebox, I drink beer I enjoy, I definitely dont enjoy the heavy beers. Unless made by unibrue. For some reason their beer tastes like a higher beers touched it and made it better But really I will drink whats available and tastes good.

I like Guinness, but for a stout, I tend to prefer Young's Chocolate Stout. Nice depth and texture to it, like a really good coffee.
