co-worker goes back to prison. Sweet!

One of my co-workers violated his parole, and was order to serve the remaining 12 years, of his 20 year sentence.

Why was he in prison?

For hitting(and killing) a cyclist, that was walking her bike in a crosswalk. That was also his 6th DUI

He got popped for his 7th one, after leaving another co-workers party.

Hmmm, I wonder who tipped off the police.

I even told him that I'd call the police on him, if he drove home.

There's a certain irony to using the icons of the clinking beer mugs, but hey, my family background includes Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and German. Bottoms up to putting the low life away again! (Just watch your back in 12 years.)

Man, this guy really just didn't get it. Appropriate quote.

I'm not worried about it at all. He did it to himself.

I don't know for sure if the police got him because of me(the police stop a lot of people simply for driving in this town, late at night).

Shouldn't have been out of jail in the first place...considering the apparent circumstances.

I wasn't blaming you at all - you definitely did the right thing. I was just wondering if he's the type to hold a grudge.

Well Done Sir!

Well Done Sir!

Helping remove a drink driver from the roads is a very good deed.

After seeing a drunk driver hit and kill an 8 yr old boy at 8:30 in the morning a few years back. I applaud you for taking a stand. Dinking and driving is not something to take lightly.

Way to go! Someone who has been caught that many times drinking and driving shouldn't be allowed to drink or drive... or breathe.

Earlier this summer, my closest friend was really screwing up his life with his drinking(+ driving). I was very close to ratting him out too.

After discussing it here, I got some of his friends together to and we all had separate conversations with him about his problem.

Thanks to you BFers, we were able to get him to acknowledge the problem, and he's no longer abusing the sauce.

Thanks a lot. I don't have too many people that I really call "true friends". I couldn't afford to lose him.

Still totally amazes me that people are still getting the multiple DWI's and are still free. Ex-husband ended up with 6 DWI's (or DUI's etc after negotiations) - and then he finally ended up in jail (for an unrelated item too) - he had one hell of a good lawyer - and he paid hugely for each one of them (do know the 4th cost him $15,000 in lawyer fees - had to sell one of his bikes).

And ... THANKS!!!!

You did the right thing BSY, and as to the "true friends" thing, at least you got us "foo friends."

DWIs happen all too many times. Last Saturday, when I was heading somewhere, about 200 feet from where I live, I saw a local PD have a SUV door open, the driver pretty much falling out, and staggering out of his vehicle. Last night, watched a drunk take a residental intersection curve too sharp, hit a dumpster, drive off, then a couple hours later, watch a guy with no lights on blow a stop sign... with a police car right behind, who promptly turned on the lights to pull the person over.

Is DWI such a joke that people ignore it this brazenly? I have paid tow truck drivers $150 to haul my vehicle to my place (as well as me) rather than drive while drunk [1], because it would screw me up big time at this stage in my life, being a college student, and no real primary job.

[1]: I have a hand held breathalyzer I keep in my vehicle, and at the time, I managed to blow a .20 BAC, so there would be no way I would be driving.

My former F.I.L. is an active alcoholic. His oldest son was killed by a drunk driver, yet he continued to drink and drive. Last I knew he had 4 DWI's, two of which were obtained after his son was killed.

Nope, but the next day, the hangover was something for the record books. The breathalyzer's main use is to get other people from driving. "You know the .15 BAC you just got on my hand-held? Picture the same number popping up when you are sitting in a BAT bus [1] sporting shiny metal bracelets." If this doesn't get people to not drive, it gets their friends to yank car keys.
