Your Other Passions

I am kinda new to the forum, so please forgive me if this has been a topic of recent discussion. I'd like to know what some of the other Foosters do for fun when not on the bike.

Here are a few of my pleasures.

I love cooking. Pictured here is some cedar plank salmon on the grill. I love eating too. Bicycling allows me to eat more.

Two for one on this one. I get a kick out of kids (grandson on the back) and kayaks.

Fishing is my favorite passtime. Pictured here fighting a king mackerel at an offshore platform.

I love motorcycling. It is a wonderful way to escape as bicycling is, but without the lung burning pain. I ride an adventure bike that is like the SUV of the motorcycle world. It's suitable for light offroading.

I enjoy hunting, shooting and reloading ammunition. This picture was taken to razz one of my anti-gun buddies on advrider.com.

I love Dixie. Dixie is the finest retriever imagineable.

I love Bratwurst.

Saving the best for last. Laura. Laura is my girlfriend. She is an amazing woman through and through. A cancer survivor with a huge heart. She just had a perfect check-up yesterday. We are surely blessed.

I'm a gun guy too. I like the stuff that politicians go after. I also reload. Thats my primary hobby. Per mod request after I went crazy posting guns in random pics I don't post gun pics anymore, but I never did take down my profile picture with my SA58.

I also like swimming, running, trying to work on cars (rebuilding an engine right now and learning as I go), hunting and hiking, and wasting time on bike forums.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the game? Looks like disc golf with a defender.

Oh snap, no you didn't.

That my friend, is Ultimate Frisbee. Named so, because it is the most ultimate thing you can do.

EVAR

And it involves a Frisbee (well technically a Discraft brand disc, but no need to get into the kleenex vs. tissue debate here)

Now don't get me wrong, I love a game of Disc golf also(Rochester has some of the best courses in NYS), but given the choice, I'd pick Ultimate 11 times out of 10.

I love my guitars. They are my babies. My piano, less so. Screw with that all you want. Touch my guitar, though, and you die.

Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with any musical talent at all. I tried piano lessons, but my teacher's therapist asked me to quit.

Nick, I have spent almost all of my life on the Gulf Coast, so winter sports were out of the question. I did a tour of duty in Kodiak AK and tried my hand at skiing. I did very good. My first downhill I only fell once. I fell from the top of the mountain all the way to the bottom. Ski Patrol said it was one of the most spectacular runs they had ever seen. EMT's said I was lucky.

Cute girl in the photo!

Climbing and related things mostly. Slacklining, etc. I used to fish a lot but not as much nowadays. Ultimate is fun, though it broke my collarbone at Gettysburg. Disc golf from time to time. Haven't been too into the winter sports since it hasn't snowed enough to make it worth my while in recent years. Hiking is way up on the list.

Mostly I'm just a student.

It all depends on how they will be handled.

Nick, that was my first stab at it. It looked and smelled wonderlicious, but tasted so-so. The corn and crab chowder I have on the stove right now kicks major azz!!! I hope the grilled ribeyes I'm getting ready to do turn out as well.

My guitars tend to spend time at the shop-they don't get them in gig bags. Hardshells FTW.

I forgot to mention that I love nature and being outside and observing wildlife. Even though I eat a lot of God's creatures, I respect them all. Baby critters are cute.

Nick, I have to have an account to see your pics? I saw the Rebel link above. All I could figure was Honda Rebel. You live in the best motorcycling state in the country.
