No Fall Colors

The trees are not changing colors here in Iowa. It's the middle of October and it should be the peak of the red, gold and orange leaves.

We have noticed around here in KC also. I am guessing the April freeze we had coupled with the last summer dry spell took it out on the trees. It appears around here that the trees are just dropping their leaves, or they are just turning brown.

We were at our peak about a week ago. Now they're starting to turn a little brown.

A lot of the trees around here are birches, and their leaves just turn yellow over a few days and fall off, without much ceremony. Conifers are probably the most common in the area, and they, of course, don't change at all...

Not a tree has changed color yet here in OK either. Did this last year too. Last year I thought it was the drought but we've had record rainfall this year.

It happens. When I was growing up in the mountains in Arizona they said that the weather caused it... if we had a mild fall, we'd have crappy fall color. They said it takes a good freeze to really get the colors going.
