I need vacation ideas....

I'm going to have an extra paycheck in January, and after dealing with all of the crap that I've dealt with the past few weeks and months, I think I'm going to take off and go somewhere fun. It doesn't have to be warm, but warm is good. I've never been skiing, but that could be cool. I could also go hang out on a beach. I've been practically everywhere in this country when I was on Phish tour, but I want to go somewhere I've never been before. I'd like to see Niagara Falls in the winter, but that seems really boring to do alone. Maybe I could go to Toronto and catch a Maple Leafs game, though. I also thought about New Orleans, but, again, I've been there. Maybe it's time to get back to Europe.

ANy ideas?

Yeah, southern France sounds really nice. I'd like to go to Spain, but I don't speak Spanish. I speak French, so all of my European travel has been concentrated in France. Maybe it's time to throw caution to the wind and try it.

But, then again, I may have to stay here in the States...

Unless you already own euros, Europe's gonna be very expensive for you right now. Why not come to sunny, temperate NC and be a cabana boy? I, CycleMagic, and Wolfpack could share your services.

Go to SoCal. They'll hook you up with the best group ride you've ever been on.

Like VV said, Europe's expensive for us Yanks these days. I'd go to the Mayan Riviera. Maybe spend a few days in Isla Mujeres, then maybe Akumal. Unless you're looking for parties and night life, then maybe Playa del Carmen, or even Cancun if that's more your style.

Do you Ski/board. If so go to Utah/Colorado..

AZ might not be too bad of a place and as April suggested SoCal averages a bone chilling 66 degrees in Dec.

You say you're gettin' the extra paycheck in January, bpohl. But when do you actually think you'd do the vacation? January? February? Later in the spring?

I started riding in April of THIS year. I haven't even done a century! And I did fine with the monsters.

Nah........ I stopped telling people to come to Cali. The last BFer I hosted didn't have such a wonderful time. Foggy beach (we stood there looking at WHITE), loong windy roads (I was surprised nobody threw up) traffic jams (an old lady cussed me out even though I was TRYING to let her in), and expensive parking. I don't think this person had much fun. Well it didn't help that I was in a grumpy mood from lack of sleep.
