Ending a relationship

Where is the best place to end a relationship? Their place? My place? Public Place? Phone? Hire an airplane and have it written in the sky? Message in a bottle? Seriously, where?

Is it going to be a "bad" break up....or trying to make it easy and painless?

Take her to an expensive restaurant. After you've had a lovely meal, get out of your seat, pull one of those felt-lined clamshell jewelry boxes out of your jacket pocket, get down on one knee, and open the box toward her.

The empty box has "I THINK WE SHOULD SEE OTHER PEOPLE" written inside the lid with a marker.

Perfect! I wish I had the balls to do that but alas, I would never do something like that.

You could use the method I used with the first girl I broke up with (age 17). Don't answer her calls for about 1 1/2 weeks and then when you finally do answer, tell her "it's a conflict of interest......I lost interest".

Someplace loud and public. That way it will be a bit surreal, and it will be harder for her to be sure what you actually said.

Be sure to tell her you "like her as a friend".

Well, recently, I encountered this same problem. It happened at my place. Then I realized that her car was not at my place, but rather her place. So, 1AM, I'm driving a girl I just broke up with home. She lived 30 minutes from me. That 30 minutes felt long.

Hope that helps.

If you've only been together for a couple of months and she hasn't moved fast emotionally, I think over the phone would be fine... let her save face and end the conversation early if she wants.

hmmmmm.... none of these suggestions, ('cept April) are in the 'break it gently' category. Or civil, for that matter.

I did as OP was he wanting/expecting an "gentle" or "rough" break up.....answers are different depending on intent. Typically "gentle" is preferable, but sometimes you KNOW there is no way to make that happen, so you want to find the proper location to temper the reaction (e.g. public place or something like that).

If you are breaking up with some, always do it at their place.. you will be in better control of emotions, especially so if they didnt see it coming.

She's def. moved faster emotionally than I have, but I think it's not at the point of, say, wanting to boil my bunny after the deed is done.

I without a doubt want to do it in a gentle manner.

Sheesh amatuers here.

Ask her if she wants a 3some. Actually kind of demand it...its a win win either way. IF she doesn't swing that way, then she can dump you. If she does swing that way...why the h@ll would you want to dump her.

No, no, no! I tried that once and she responded, "Great, I know this guy...."
