Facebook/ Myspace

I joined Facebook last week and am impressed how people are connected. Now I dont know to much about Myspace but it seems that it is farther reaching? More connections? More versatile? Six degrees of seperation. I am forty, single, happy, and grounded I want to share my passions for running, cycling, photography...

Myspace is going to have honestly much younger users on it. However there is some groups that you can check out. I think it acts as more of an elaborate dating site. I have met girls from there that were real and legit. So its kinda up to you. However like I said, the users will range form age 13-30 seems to be the majority with 17 being the mean.

I signed up on both.

A bunch of my friends from my younger days stay in touch through MySpace.
My Call of Duty gaming group has a page on Facebook, so I registered there.

I don't spend much time on either site or put much into developing my personal pages. I log on, see if I have any messages and sometimes check to see what has been posted on the aforementioned group sites.

Facebook is so much classier than MySpace.... And it's definitely got an older (more mature?) crowd on it. Also, a lot less spam and randoms adding you for no apparent reason than to increase their friend count...

That's because until a few months ago you had to have a university email to join. Give it time, soon enough facebook will be equally worthless.

what's the most infuriating thing about myspace is the ugly ass interface and dumb ass music.

The lower level of crap on facebook is what I like.... less videos, music, animations, and BS.
Then again, once random people I've met in passing or "friends of friend's" which I didn't like to begin with 6 years ago when I last saw them start adding me as "friends", I quit doing anything on there.
It's only getting worse now that you don't need a university e-mail.

Also, the "updates" that tell everyone anything you do is really weird.

you've got to be kidding...these sites are a haven for sex offenders and idiots.
We actually had to start an awareness campaign because college grads were losing jobs or not getting jobs based on some of the ******** stuff on their Facebook/Myspace page.

I search all new hires by name -you would not believe the bullets I've dodged from reading someone's page.

you do realize that it's (currently) not possible to check on a facebook friend unless they've accepted you as a friend, or are in the same network as you are?

Not on myspace however. If their profile is public its fair game. I've read a story about a teacher who was not hired because of her myspace page. Its all silly in my mind. Online you can be anything you want, yourself, someone else, who you wish you are. Who's to say whats the truth and what isnt?

If she had naked pics up like 80% of the myspace gals, then she should have known someone would see it.

Well, I was just e-invited to Facebook by the girl-I was dating, but now just hang with-...here goes nothing...

I"ll be back with a review later.

Facebook - just tell me the message, don't send me an email telling me there's a message and then force me to link through to the site to see it, just tell me it. Putting the advertisers before the users is one of the reasons I'm not using facebook.

That and the fact I have no friends.

It was accually a photo of her with a "red party cup" as she was wearing a halloween costume. The cup read something to the point of Little red S*ut.

Have you ever hired anyone based on their Facebook profile?
Not everyone lists their profiles with actual names. Although you could easily narrow down and find them based on their profiles.

Granted, I don't have facebook or myspace, these things are just too conservative for me and I don't fancy being a statistic on that site.

The ads on facebook are some of the most unobtrusive i've seen on the internet. A guy, younger than me,created a clever website that has turned into something he can make a living off of. How dare he not let you use his site, for free, and then not subject you to the things that puts food on his table.

I joined Facebook a couple of weeks ago and so far have met a few lost friends. Cant complain about it yet except, in addition to shooting the s*it with my friends in person, I do it online too.

It is interesting that few people, denying the distinction of privacy on the internet, are willing to allow for a separation of personality between the working and personal spheres.

Good point timmy. As he's younger than you and it's free I think it's great. The free sites that have a better user experience were probably created by guys older than you or by girls.

I have no interest in anything like this. I'd rather limit the amount of personal information about myself that is available on the internet.
