"Aaa-Choooo!!"

Do you always say, "God bless you." or "Gesundheit" after someone sneezes?

Here at work it seems to be a rush for someone to call it out after someone blows their snot and spit everywhere. Sorry, but I don't. Call me a meany-head But what's the big deal? This isn't the Middle Ages and the Bubonic plague isn't upon us.

Should I also congratulate them after they fart or burp?

I'd say 99% of the time I say God bless you.

Just this morning when a coworker sneezed, I told him "bless you. You only get two more today." He hasn't sneezed again (at least not while I've been around him.)

I heartily agree. The sneeze is the only bodily sound that elicits an empathetic reaction from another person.

Ok, people might go EWWWW when you let fly with a fart. But cough, hicup or belch and no one is rushing to empathize.

Dude, you sneezed.. excuse your self.

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves. As a seasonal allergy sufferer, i get to the point where i could about strangle someone after the 3,000th "bless you" of the season.

I usually just say, "Shut the f**k up!!!", but some people construe that as rude.

Nope (and btw - I answered NO - but NOT with the souls leaving your mouth --- I cry FOOOOOul and demand a single NO! be added).

And I'll say why too - because some of the people in my life and past life somehow DEMANDED that I say something - oh good grief!! And if I didn't respond with the Bless you, etc a small stomping tantrum was to be had. Ex boyfriend I went out with for 8 years, and the guy before him - who I went out with for 4 years.

?

I do not expect anyone to say anything when I sneeze! Doesn't matter if I'm wiccan or not --- shoooot I just want a cleenex.

And personally ... why? So you sneeze? Al

A weird variation on this, a British ex-boyfriend of mine claimed that if you thanked someone for "blessing" you after a sneeze, you would be "killing a fairy". I have no idea where that one came from.

A very nice looking woman I work with, mentioned the other day that I'm the only guy she knows that says "God less you" after someone sneezes, and she really liked that.

That's all I need to say about that.

You can spot the inner office clicks too. My friend would sneeze and.....silence, ms popularity sneezes and the bless you's were popping up all over the office. I think someone even called in.

Wow, I never realized I could be polite, yet annoying at the same time.

Life just keeps getting better!

My grandmother used to say "Stop that" after one of us sneezed. Now THAT was annoying!

I say "gesundheit." It roughly means "health to you."

Works for an agnostic like moi.

Sometimes I'll say "Careful. Don't lose your face."
