I used to have one before it burned up. I think they're really handy. I've been meaning to replace mine.

Don't you need to buy a special antenna?

I had a Midland CB in my VW bug with a whip antenna back during the mid 70's during the CB craze...

I hought about putting one in my Versa for the long road trips, but never got around to it. My SO uses the versa on a daily basis now and I have the bike so I have a feeling that some subwoofers will go in instead of the CB.

This is the one I have in my Rover and had it in my Jeep before that:

I like it because all controls are in the mic so you don't have this big base station to mount somewhere, only a little control box that you can hide behind your console or dash.
It's not cheap though.
Frankly, any cheap cb will work fine, the difference in reception and transmission will have more to do with the quality and placement of the antenna.

I meant cheap/good antennas. That aren't extremely tall like 102"

A 2 foot Firestick will be fine for most conditions unless you plan on going out into the boonies. Get a magnet mount and you are golden.

You don't need a huge obtrusive antenna. My buddies antenna is inside his door, and it works great.

Really? I've heard things. Like certain antennas don't pick up from a short distance and so on.

My 5.5 foot antenna worked a lot better then my 7 foot antenna.

Trees also seemed to like it a lot more as well.

I would imagine technology has improved since Daisy put the antennas on her jeep.

Most good antennas, like the firestik I posted, require tuning.
Good reading:

I had a nice CB in my '85 Cavalier Z-24.

Tuned, peaked, power mic and 10 foot fiberglass whip.

Truckers used to think I was a rig. Then they'd make fun of me when I'd pass them.

Was a lot of fun, though. And MAN could they hear me for miles 'n miles.
