I had the most unusual Thanksgiving ...
Started out by taking the bike out and went trail riding, then off trail riding - and it snowed and it was awesome ... but by doing this I skipped the family dinner. Eh, Tude the blacksheep anyway. And I had fun.
So then we all had some nice warm-you-up shots (J. Black and Wild Turkey) while out there in the sticks, then hit a bar on the way home.
Just in time for my roommates to start their turkey (about 7 pm - they always eat late). Cool. Went and took a little nap and walked back downstairs to find my befuddled roommates scrambling around the kitchen. David, roommate, looked for the smallest fresh turkey and could only find a 20 lb. And so bringing it home and stuffing - then tried to put it into his convection/microwave oven and it didn't fit. So he modifed it. Cut the wings off, ultrafolded the legs (they were funny) and snipped of the neck flap area. Then got the turkey in the oven - figuring about hours.
At hour 1-1/2 - they saw the pop-out thingee was indeed protruding out of the - looks done turkey. So they were scrambling around getting the other stuff ready. I came downstairs and (cause I cook) was made the chief-o-the Meat ---- and found the very lowest part of the dark meat could have been done more --- but upon hearing that - roommates announced they hate dark meat and dove in. I like dark meat so I cooked mine a little longer.
Anyway. Accompanying foodstuffs. Stuffing made with --- rye bread (that's all he had). It was, unusual. Nothing I'd have again though. Canned gravy and some boiled canned potatoes. Didn't have time for a veggie as to the quick cooked turkey. Follwed meal with a minty ice cream. It was pretty good. However big meal at 9 pm equals ----- snoozing on the couch. I woke up with three kittens on me at 1 am and slumped up to my bed.
Washing the bike clothes now - and heading out for some road riding (with mtb) and hitting some fun, eclectric stores down on Monroe ave. Lots of dead leaves on streets - and lvin the snow (16F out). Cheers!!
