Is it spring yet?

I haven't ridden in, at least, 2 weeks. I've decided i don't ride in the cold. I just don't enjoy it, sue me. I'm having withdrawal though.

I need to move out of the midwest i suppose.

Around February I'll be saying that, but for now I embrace the snow!!! (far better than rain!) Spent a couple of years spending some good money on some good snow riding gear - and am going back out here soon and enjoying them. Have to also replace some stolen parts of the roadbike (hehe, including a saddle) so I can get back on ye ole boring trainer ... have to keep the road legs going as I have to lead 3 very early in the season rides for the club ...

ooooooooppphhh! That's another piece of equipment that I just can't get into. I applaud the people who can --- college has a bunch of them lined up in front of a glass wall that you can see into the hallway/student lounge - and I go by there on the way to a meeting .... and note a couple of people on them ... and come back 40 minutes later and see those same people on them - sweating and still going on them - at a full run too. <shakes head> More power to them ...

Really pretty little coating of snow yesterday up there too. Snow is for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. After that - get it away from me.

Which club is that Tude?

I can handle maybe 20-30 mins before i grow bored.

My gym has 3 huge TV's in front of the treadmills. The quality of TV on ESPN is directly proportional to the amount of time i spend "running". We also have a pool, i may try to do that more often this winter. A lot less painful...

It's Nearly Summer

It's nearly summer here. The last week has been fine and warm with temperatures in the 20s (Celcius)
It has been great, but we are starting to need some rain.

I'm with you. I hate riding in the cold. And, I surely can't afford teh gear to make it bearable.

Rochester Bicycling Club. We developed a mid-set of rides for intermediate riders who "graduated" from the slow and easy rides (9-20 mph, flats only) and wanted a faster ride, more challenging but still as a Sweep ride (road captain rides in the back and makes sure no rider left behind, and helps with repairs if needed). My ride is a route from the Show&Go (it's on the website) routes - 18-25 miles (I reserve my right to change some of the route depending on the agility of the riders I have that day. - It's full of some nice rollers with a couple of nice climbs. When I was testing the ride out, my roadbike was down for repairs so I took the mtb. Yeah, I whined a couple of times

My rides are on the weekends - am adding more too toward the end of Summer. I'll PM you of the rides I have going on - in case yer in the area! But remember Dec. 1st is 200 Tuba day at midtown ---- way cool, big brass!!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to pass on the 1st. There's a Boy Scout hike in the morning, and a dinner I'm taking my wife to at night.

I might be able to do one of the weekends though. You picked the right club. My uncle was the President of it about 30 years ago or so.

The club just celebrated it's 40th year this past Summer. Well there's that club (touring club), Victor Mountain bicycling club (I'm a member of that too), and the Geneseey Valley Cycling Club (racing club - I'm affiliated - work with at the Crit). So ... the choices are minimal.

Just stepped down as Publicity Director for the club. Got kinda tired of looking for volunteers to help man the many booths I have at festivals/outdoor expos and other bicycling events ... and tired of no one showing up when I plan these activities (like hockey games/RBC nights at the Red Wings-baseball) - that the rest of the Board want me to set up. phooey. I'll funnel my energies to the Crit and Rochester Marathon where I'm the liaison with the clubs and get volunteers for road marshalls, etc.

It's times like this when living in Miami doesn't seem so bad. Kind of makes you forget the boiling heat. Even if only for a few weeks.

Pshaw, I ride all the time, rain or rain or rain or rain or rain - and even if it is sunny. (we are coming to the end of the rainy season in a couple more months - the mud has been a bit extreme lately)

We never have spring - you have to have winter first!

She's in New Hampshire, I'm in Maine.

BDG rides year round on her road bike. I force myself to ride to work this time of year on my mtb for the exercise.

I don't think I could handle the wind chill she must be generating at the speed she rides

I chug along at 14ish mph on the mtb.

<edit> This morning it was 31F. Now its warmed up to 33F. Woohoo!!!
