I have a question

My parents think i am using the internet too much, which is very correct. So they want me off at 10pm. I have thought about getting a wireless internet notebook adapter. The thing is i do no know much about these adapters. I know they use other internet connections, but how much of a distance away from the internet source can i be with out loosing connection?. This is what i am thinking about buying "Linksys WPC54G-WB Wireless-G Notebook Adapter White Box" .

One critical component of the equation you are overlooking... It's your parents house!

Solution is simple if you don't like the rules... Move out. After all you're a big boy, right? You ARE twenty-one.

It's not about your right, it's about what's best for you. And if you're still living with your parents they have a right to tell you what's best for you. And they're probably right. Internet addiction does exist - if your parents are concerned about you spending too much time they might have a point - there are certainly drawbacks to spending too much time here. If you do have a life they maybe they're wrong and they lack perspective. But hey dude you're still living there. Suck it up.

I have a right to be an *******, but that doesn't make it healthy. At least I get to be an ******* anyway cuz I don't gots no parents telling me what to do

You have struck a cord, i have addiction issues with many things. Never thought about the possiblity of being addicted to the internet. I do have a life, but i stay up many hours a day. So even after working, running/biking/other fitness stuff, writing poetry and going out with friends i go on the computer. I do need to correct my sleeping habits though.

Geez this is the sorriest thing I've ever heard. I am 21. I live with my parents. They told me I have a 10pm internet curfew. I need a wifi.

Not silly, realistic. I didn't say you didn't know the rules... I said you don't like them. That is clear.

Whatever your excuse/reason is is your business. You can't/won't/don't want to move out? Oh well. Cope.

When in your parents house, you have no right to do anything but that which they tell you. Grow up and move out, or listen to the parents

Known sir gearjammer for a few many years from another forum ... and ... the word ... "Cope" works. Hold on -- you're doing just fine. Really. You're smart and ambitious to try new things - just hold on and do what you need to do for now. Just get the grades, and look at other schools as well ... include scholarships in your interests too. You got the drive, do it.

I say go spend the money. Then, if you were my kid, I'd either power down the wireless router so you'd be SOL or I'd just go in and lock you out of the router.

Then you'd get exactly what you deserved; loss of trust, loss of money and the knowledge that you'd been busted.

By the way, when did staying up late to surf porn on the internet against your parents' wishes become "outlaw"? Pretty sorry state of affairs if that's all it takes....
