Seasickness on land?!?

So lately, maybe for the past three weeks, i have been feeling like i am seasick occasionally. It all started when i was in the bike shop and suddenly i felt extremely dizzy, so i sat down on a couch they had there, and the i felt very hot and started sweating profusely. Since then it has not been as strong, but i start to feel a bit dizzy almost everyday or every other day, usually stronger in the evening.

Really the best way i can describe it is a seasick feeling, sometime accompanied by a pain in my eyes, or directly behind my eyes.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Any suggestions as to what it could be or what i should do about it? I wasn't able to go to the doctor because i was traveling the past two weeks, but i am thinking i should pay a visit now.

Could be a minor inner ear infection. I've known some people to have cases so mild they didn't feel it in their ears, yet got dizzy from it on occasion.

Yes, you could have an ear infection or worse. Tumors can do this as can a disorder (forget what it's called) that causes exactly this condition. I've known one guy who had something along these lines that disqualified him from the flight program. Pretty hard to fly if you have vertigo all the time.

See the doc!

See a doc zoltani. See one now. The dizziness is bad enough but with the profuse sweating you have reason to be concerned. Don't play with this. Good luck!

I had a friend that was a boat captain and he had been on a multi day trip at sea and came into the dock and went to a phone booth to make a call. A minute into the call he barfed big time.....land sick!

BTW, try some OTC Bonine to see if that helps (meclizine) and if so, probably an inner ear issue.

Could be anything, earwax buildup, or a long lasting infection. I'd recommend seeing a doc big time, just to make sure you don't have any eardrum or inner ear damage.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Agreed, see a Dr! Very likely it's an inner ear infection, but there can be other causes as well.

That's what caused mine. It's good to see a doctor - the sooner the better.
