Ebay deleted my listing

I've never had this happen before, but i got this email from Ebay tonight.

Quote:

For more information on how eBay protects Intellectual Property visit the following Help page:

I guess they objected to me copy and pasting from Amazon.com's website. I took the description of the product from there. Damn, dishNETWORK must be pretty hard up for something to complain about.

I told ebay to **** off earlier this year after they decided to turn their back on firearms enthusiasts. It's craigslist and amazon for me.

I had that happen on some old software I was selling several years old. Symantec got their panties in a wod and they took down my auction for a copy of PC Anywhere. I re-listed about 5 days later using my own text and sold it.

For **** sake, how hard is it to write a paragraph of text on the item your selling?!?! I could put together a short story in the time it would take me to search, locate, copy & paste some information. The epitome of laziness is those prefilled auction thingies that use a books ISBN.

C'mon, put a little effort in to it.

DirectTV and Dish Network doesn't allow the resale of equipment. If the receivers have been activated, they will not allow a different user to reactivate the units.

It takes about 5 seconds to copy and paste product specifications that are very detailed. Granted you are a typing wiz and have the vocabulary of Webster, but not me.

I see other people reselling their units on ebay, so i know there is no way they can stop you from selling. They may be able to prevent you from activating but i have no idea. The period of time they have been disconnected must be an issue because alot of buyers are asking that.

Did you do this with your son sitting on your lap too? Teaching him how to steal intellectual property... tisk, tisk, tisk.

Yeah... I've always thought it's stupid that you can't steal intellectual property to describe the specific item you are selling. I mean... it's listing the stats for the specific item... dumb. The pictures, I can see... you don't need to steal they're expensive photography work. (not saying you did)

Just type it yourself in a different order and don't abbreviate things they did

I'm teaching my son to steal ANYTHING intellectual that he finds in this world. Those finds are rare.

Uhhh... huh?

If you own the unit, you can sell it if you want. The purchaser will have to subscribe to receive programming and pay the fees, but I've never heard that you can't sell a unit you OWN and have the new owner reactivate it under their name.

Now, if you sell a unit you rented, I can see them saying no.

edit:

We have found that new customers are happier with a new, professionally installed system, so we don't usually sign up a new customer with a used system. We suggest you check out our current offer or call 1-800-DIRECTV.
So they don't USUALLY do this, but doesn't sound like they won't if you push the issue.

Look into Amazon's new designs for preferential pricing and supply, and you might consider dropping them as well.

Why you should be ashamed of yourself. You're probably the kind that would 'rescue abandoned bikes' too.

Srsly, that's way too much info for the auction. All you really need is the model number, condition and terms. Oh and maybe mention that direct will give you a reciever, dish and do the installation for free. Why would any one buy one?

That is probably a question for another forum. Possibly satellitehacks.com for all i know. All I can tell you is that they sell. If I hadn't watched the same models bring nearly $50 a piece I wouldn't have listed them.

Actually all it takes is another seller to report you for copyright violation.
