    Drunk biking nyc

anyone here do it? I feel like all of my friends go out in the summer on pub crawls and retire it for the winter.

You can still get a DUI for that.

Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

i did it once (not in NYC), but it was on my brand new kona that i built up, i volunteered at a chairty event at a pub and i was given free booze all night... My kona had less than 15km on it, and i dumped it within 15 yards of leaving that night... Made it the rest of the way home on the bike paths (nowhere close to vehicles) in the park. Its tough!

    Ummmmmm, yes I do.

I only step out for a couple, maybe three though and then I'm on my way home. Although when my other bike group was riding (boo hoo, miss them - maybe we'll ride for Christmas) - Tour de Bar - we'd ride hard for 45 min, hit a bar for a couple of pitchers and then ride another 45-1 hour and hit another bar --- no real hard shots - just an easy paced beer time. Buttt after a couple of stops it goes to more of a drinking spree - sometimes around midnight or later - I usually take off then - but have ridden home later ... and yes you can get a drinking/driving infraction. And winter doesn't stop me either. But to end - must add the fact that when I'm out riding - I ride - hit the park, hit some snow, etc - then hit my local watering hole on the way home - and am usually out of there within an hour. I don't spend the 4-6 hours in a bar like I did when I was much younger. In and out. Bar stops are merely just a hello to all, have a drink and run.

Oh boy, made that kind of mistake only a few times in the past 8-10 years of commuting. One notable time was when I was bartending at 3 places and went to my one main bar in the afternoon to do something ... off duty night time bartenders going into their bar during the daytime is dangerous - people buy you shots ... since I wasn't doing anything but just riding back down one block to my house - I partook in shots.

Oh my. Got on my bike - fell into bushes, got up, got on, fell into bushes, bad.

There was one repeat of that kind of thing in 10 years and that was it. Don't do that!

I did the drunk ride thing one time. Now look here, kiddies, this was in 1970 while in college. I had one too many (or was that 2 or 3 too many?) and kept falling over into the ice plant. I guess I made it back to the dorm since I survived to tell about it.

Many moons ago there was the famous Uptown Broadway Run. It started at Broadway and 190th Street at about 5 or six and would end somewhere near 242nd Street in the Bronx. Ah there were many bars back then but alas they are almost all gone now.

That was a time when the drinking age was 18 and we all flew with the Eagles. I remember being a member of the snooze you lose club. The joys of a misspent youth. No bicycles but there was an occassional cab.
