How do I make my computer's audio system work?

I recently did the system restore deal, and now I can't play anything. Whenever the computer would normally play that sound, I get the stupid annoying beep heard from the computer-unit. What can I do to install the audio stuff?

Easiest way to do this is to find your system online.
Alot of the newer PCs with the new damned Conexant HD Audio have a hell of a time getting the right stuff in.
Generally it's alot easier if you know what's supposed to go in though.

No sound. If I play a song, I get a "no audio-hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding."

You might not have the drivers installed. Go to the computer manufacturer's web site and download them.

Find sound card settings in control panel and start looking around in there.

Assuming you are using Windows XP
If you are not it uses a Realteck AC97 Audio driver (very common and easy to find if you google it

Texasguy has it. I'd grab the AC97 driver and run with that.

Also, Windows Update *should* have it available for install under hardware drivers.

Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Sound Video Game Cntrllrs

See if there are any Red "X's" and delete them, then scan for hardware changes and re-install your drivers
