who has a wii?

- just wondering... i can't believe the wii is a 'must have' two years in a row...

- i was able to get one for my wife's birthday this summer, but it took some daily web browsing for nearly seven months before i snagged one off a major electronic dealer's site (and only paid $249, *not* the absurd 'bundling' price offered by many electronics retailers)...

- i hope those of you looking for one this season good luck - we love the golf and bowling!

When we were trying to find a Wii for my son's birthday, I got a couple of hints for attaining the elusive little bugger.

Circuit City opens at 10:00am on Sunday morning. Get there early and go to the customer service desk, (some of the stores have a separate door for that part of the store and I think they unlock it as early as 9:00am). They will give you a ticket which reserves a Wii unit for the day. Come back before they close and it will be waiting for you.

We got ours at Target. They usually open at 9:00am on Sunday morning, but open at 8:00am during the holidays. Be there early, because there may be others waiting for it to open. Also be ready to run your hiney off. You'll want to be one of the first three people at the electronics counter. Make sure that the person working the counter knows you got there first and ask them for a Wii game system. Most stores don't even put them on the shelves. They usually don't even bring them out of the back room until after they open.

And yes, there are some fun games. You will probably also want to get the WiiPlay bundle, since it gives you some good beginners games and a second controller. Some games also require a nunchuck, so you might want to pick one up.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Depends... Some people think it's kinda cute for how small it is.

I have a Wii. And outside of slight graphical downside compared to XB360 and PS3 it is completely awesome. The playability of even some of the stupid games is just addicting. Besides, with all the built in wireless, bluetooth, SD slots, and USB slots you can pretty much upgrade it however you want. I personally tell anybody with kids that is an automatic choice of XB or PS because of the parental controls. It is actually usable enough that you do not need to give your kid a computer anymore. (noone actually uses a word processor anyways )

- gotta agree... i've never been a gamer (been using computers for more than 30 years), but i do have to say that the wii is fun... i've also read that Nintendo did not anticipate the console's appeal in many retirement homes and community centers (senior bowling leagues without the expense of an alley or trips to the lanes)...

:-)

I think their marketting departments needs to look at themselves then. I could see automatic appeal to EVERYONE who doesn't fit nicely into the gaming market. My mom, fiance, fat friends etc. I thinks its the next step in gaming as now, for the first time, there will be very complete and used entertainment centres.

Good for nintendo.

the wii - ps2 - ps3 - do I have a wii, well no but it looks interesting for sure. There are so many consoles out there I wonder. Seems a thread about Bicycle Computers would be good

Ride On...If it snows outside, still you can ride, if it rains outside still you can ride, even if you are sick you sure could ride, so I wonder why would you want to stay inside and play a game?

This has been a very frustrating hunt for me. Everywhere I turn, I come up empty handed. I wanna get it for Christmas to surprise the kids. They have no idea at all. Maybe that's good. Just in case I don't get it.

Well I still am finding them for 249.00, but by the time I make it to the store the one console that comes in is gone.

Well, our boys have a Wii and they enjoy beating the snot out of me. They also ask me for "expert" advice on what weapon to blow things up which is entertaining because I have no clue how the games work. My only success is I own the high score on the tanks game on Wii Play.
