Cheap (or free) Mac photo editing software?

Can anyone recommend a simple, basic photo editing software application -- preferably freeware or shareware -- that'll run on Macintosh OS9 and will allow me to do really rudimentary cut'n'paste collaging? I don't need anything nearly as comprehensive as Photoshop, just want to be able to do the old Stick-George-W.-Bush's-Head-On-A-Chimpanzee's-Body stuff. Thanks.

Here's some good software resources:

http://www.tucows.com
http://www.shareware.com
http://www.download.com
http://www.versiontracker.com

For what you want to do, check out GraphicConverter by LemkeSoft. Their download page has a link to their Classic version for OS9 (at bottom of screen).

Also one of the best photo-management software I've seen is ThumbsPlus by Cerious Software. Hunting around their FTP-site, you can still download a Mac version. Too bad Microsoft licensed their thumbnails software for Windows and forbade them from continuing on with the Mac version.

Thanks, I'll definitely check out your other suggestions... I've already got GraphicConverter by LemkeSoft and it inexplicably does not have the capability to trace/cut along non-straight lines! So I can't carve GWB's egg-shaped head out from a busy background to paste it on the chimp's body. (Unless there's a feature I haven't discovered?)
