Does your cat drool when purring madly ??? huh ?

I had a cat once that drooled all over hell when happy, rubbed, or skritched behind the ears.

is this what cats do or what ? or is it just ryanF ?

I've known a few cats like that. Fortunately, none of my current cats do that.

I hate to break it to ya ...

But no, my new kitty does not drool - no matter how ruffed up, scratchied behind the head or chased around the house and eventually belly-rubbed so he slides across the floor like a mop...

<edit> and all the while he was purring like the MAD awesome kitty he is:

    No droolies.

    Now read on my friend

However, where he laid on my window sill - before he was fixed last week - seems to hold a "magic spot" where the two older female cats come into my room, aim for THAT window sill - and start to purr and inhale where he laid .... and ultimately drool and pant.

BAD KITTIES. Needless to say - I 409'd the hell out of that spot.

Ahem. I'm not sure what the drooling thing is going on at your place is though .....

yes. my evil cat (really a lesser demon from the 3rd circle of hell in disquise) drools when
he purrs, and it is a really vile substance. It's really bad when he shakes his head and slings
    it all over the place.
we have another cat that doesn't drool.

See, now that's the bad part. It's not the drooling, it's when they shake their heads and spatter everything within 20 feet of themselves .

    No drooling.

No volume control either. Our orange tabby purrs so loud you can hear him in another room.

yep. when mine is really happy and purring loudly, eyes half closed, there can, but not always, be a bit of drool. and, yep, it's not fun to be around when they shake their head...

Mine drools copiously, then he shakes his head and it splatters all over.
Maybe I'll duct tape his schnozola.

My girlfriend (where I was staying last two weeks) has 2 cats (which will be part of my household when she moves here late this year).

Maggie - loves daddy, purrs, but no drool

Miles - has yet to realize how much daddy will pamper him if he comes up on his lap (e.g. I don't know)

You know what is also funny ... I've lived in my temporary house now for about 3 months and here's what I've learned about the 2 adult cats and 3 kitten/adult cats

Mom Cat: She's in heat 28 days of the month. Used to be my favorite when I worked here and visited since I knew her from a kitten - but she's become quite annoying. OY. And she became possessive of the three rescue kitties (from different litters) and still wants to nurse them even though half grown - and has the big FAKE brass ones to hiss at me when I pet one of the kittens. HISS!

Abby: aka Curly tail - a half breed of a tom cat and one of my friends pure bred abbysinians - and something in her genetics said her tail shall look like a husky. She also is an adult and is in heat 28 days of the month.

    Kittens:

Splatter (aka Clown cat): Is a fetchy kitty - loves her ball and travels with it in her mouth wanting you to throw it so she can fetch it. A cutie - she falls over backwards when approached and rolls over many times like you had a clicker and she was a seal at a zoo.

Butter (aka Garbage cat): little cutie who has a huge purr - and is the scamp. Able to climb into and out of garbage cans in 2 seconds - and able to leap onto a stove and lick the butter out of a warming fry pans without you knowing it. Bad Butter.

Tugger (named after BanananananaTugger): My adopted kitty. Likes to eat, big lil long hair tuffy with a LePlume for a tail. Follows me around and is a kitty I would say has the attention span of a sparrow. And he's resting on my bed as I type. Pretty boy.

Never thought I'd go for another kitty .... until here

Nope, never had a cat that drools. But from time to time I have fruit with cream and always go heavy on hte cream so some is left over for the dogs (the cat is very very picky). Beta dog drools everywhere, even on the cat, who for reasons known only to him puts up with getting soaked. (Or perhaps the cat is smart, 105 lbs. of bodyguard can be useful. Hurt Joeys cat and you may die).

Yep, one of my Dad's three employers - erm, cats, I mean... drools when petted.

And he'll swat at you of you stop petting before he's ready. Or continue when he doesn't want to anymore. Or just for no reason other than his being a cat...

I'll have to ask the wife why this happens, she's a vet tech.

Actually, other than being dirty, she was doing pretty well. The forklift guys were feeding her and her brother and the office people were watching out for them. I see these yard cats pretty often, have had to rescue a couple that were in pretty bad condition.
