The Official Moving to Costa Rica Thread!!!!

Joe and I have been talking about it here and there, and some of you have asked about it, so I would just throw it out there in the open. Yes, we are moving to Costa Rica! We are both very excited and looking forward to the change.

It will be a while before we are down there full time. We are looking around this time next year before we are living there...maybe we'll wait until after the ski season! In the meantime, we are going to get our business started, build a house and tie up all the loose ends!

Finally Crtreedude will have a couple of bf members as neighbors!

I think we've talked about it before. We are going to start an artistic jersey business. We are in the baby stages right now!

Neat. You may have talked about it, but I didn't see the thread if so. I've been giving a lot of thought to one day starting my own business too.

Thats very cool.

I hope that means there will be a forum dedicated to the cool custom jerseys you guys make. And don't forget the skull caps.

That would indeed be very cool! Once we get the ball rolling with the jerseys, we'll see how feasible it is to make other accessories.

That's the problem. I have about 4 or more ideas and I like them all, but they are varied enough that it would very weird to combine them in one place.

My thoughts are:
Coffee
Bike apparel/accessories (specialty)
Pet Products (specialty)
Books (just because I love them)

Ahhhh ok! We are actually going to rent the place out to help pay for our expenses. Thinking of moving to Utah by any chance?

If we could swing it, it would be so cool to just keep it as a second home. Then we could come back for snowboarding! I'm totally addicted now.

Cool ideas! I've always wanted to open up my own coffee shop/cafe. Who knows, maybe you could have a really cool coffee shop that sells doggie treats, books and our awesome jerseys!

That was kinda my thought.....the specialty items are harder to come by. They are products that exist very little or not at all. How do I find suppliers? Heck, how do I find the suppliers for normal stuff? I know NOTHING about running a business. I should look for a course.

I saw that you were getting real good, real fast at snowboading! Unfortunately there are not too many jobs for what I do around there ..

I know I've got a lot to learn myself. Working for a small business was invaluable to me! I learned more about accounting than I could ever learn in a class. Try taking that course, and maybe think about working a job in a coffee shop part time or something!

Yep - Joe and Heather have lost their minds and are planning on being our neighbors... There is enough distance that they should be okay. We are looking forward to having them around truth be told.

We currently working at preparing the fincas for this years planting - getting workers situated, etc. I was walking the finca with Antonio (I think that is his name - everyone has their real name, then a nickname) and he said that after you pass over our Quebrada you enter into a Reserve - and 40 minutes in that you hit a jungle river - totally clean and large. How cool is that Heather?

Cool Shadiyah! I'm very happy for you and Joe.

On a related note: I may be relocating to New Mexico this Spring or Summer.

That is wonderful! I can't wait to explore the reserve and take a dip in the river after working up a sweat!

It's true!

Utah and Costa Rica can't be any more different from each other, it should be really fun & interesting to live down there. Just need to work on my Spanish!

On the topic of snowboarding, yesterday was off the hook. I cleared a double black diamond yesterday (here be giants, honeycomb canyon, solitude resort), but just about every run is easier when you have 30" of fresh Utah powder...
